New Years celebrations?

We'll be at DLR December 30-January 2. What are some of the options for counting down the New Year in style? Do any of the DTD restaurants or the hotels have special parties (we're staying at DLH)? What's happening in the parks on New Year's Eve apart from a lot of waiting in line? It will be me, DW, DS14, and DD10, so I'd like to find something special the whole family can enjoy.

Of course, the holiday events information on the Disney web site has some kind of flash app that keeps getting hung up when it tries to load. I'm sure the intended web page is a thing of surpassing beauty, but I'd settle for ASCII text as long as there is information content.

I was hoping someone would have something to post. I was wondering the same thing.:surfweb:

We went with my sister and her boyfriend last year and I know it goes without saying that the parks will be slammed but really it surprised me even though I knew what I was getting into. It is just body to body all evening long with no where to move! That being said my advice would be to skip trying to hang out right in front of the castle, that is where everyone will be, but if you go into the other "lands" we found lots of fun smaller "dance parties" with great djs and lots of people dancing and having a blast.
I can't say much about events at the disney hotels we have always stayed offsite.

We fly in on the 31st, and will be at Disney around noon - 1 pm. Would we still be able to get in? I heard that they sometimes hit capacity fairly early.

I am still hoping someone will come with their New Years wisdom, thought I would bump it up.
My SIL went last year and they left the park in the afternoon and could not get back in. I don't know exactly when that was but I know it was closer to 4 than Noon. We are trying to make plans but it would help with a little insight from someone who has been there a few times.
Thank you!

Here are the results of some outside research. I asked a similar question at the Tripadvisor Anaheim forum and got a pretty helpful response. See http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopi...rations_at_Disneyland-Anaheim_California.html.

Also, I called Disney Dining and found that PCH Grill at the Paradise Pier Hotel has a New Years Eve package. For $55 adults (much less for kids under 10), you get a buffet dinner and a wristband that will allow you into a private party in one of the hotel's banquet rooms. The party features characters and a DJ.

I don't know, but we will be there for 1 last hurrah with our APs, they expire on 1-3. :) But, we aren't getting in until later on NYE so we won't be going to the parks at all, just to the hotel to crash. We will be in the parks the 1-3rd.

Here is my plan...
Now I live only 20 minutes away but I don't want to drive home on New Years so I booked Disneyland Hotel for 30th and 31st (DVC Member with points to kill). I had to book the 30th because of park capacity on the 31st. I wouldn't be able to check in until after New Years Eve.

I plan to get in the park by 9am. I will get a locker since odds are leaving are low. Try to make a few rides in the morning and then go to breakfast.

At 2pm I booked the tour "Walt's Footsteps". It comes with lunch so I don't have to worry about standing in a long line. Since most rides will be packed I thought this would be a great time to try a tour.

Booked Blue Bayou for dinner, but I can't remember the time so I have to call back.

Not sure if I will end up at Ca Adventure for New Years or Disneyland. I know I will start in Disneyland. It would be nice to have a few drinks in Ca Adventure so we will see. I am not a fan of big crowds So Ca Adventure might be a great alternative.

So far we have Fantasmic dessert for the 10:30 show scheduled.

Get there as early as possible and plan to stay there until you are ready to leave. Main Street from Town Square to the Hub will get very congested EARLY! with people waiting for the "party to begin." Local and others come just for the count down and do nothing all day but sit and wait. It is very fun but very crowded day.

Depending on weather (rain will keep some away) they may close new enterance to the park and you will only be allowed inside if enough people leave. And if you leave you may not be allowed back in.

Last year was very fogging and even though they had midnight fireworks you could not see them.

Last I looked (last week) the times were DL 8am to 2am & DCA 10am to 1am

WOW!!!! that's crazy late!!!!! I didn't know they extended them so much.

Does anyone know if DCA does fireworks or some kind of a celebration? What have they done in the past?
