Has anyone used the new ziploc extra large bags. I was thinking of getting and putting clothes in them and rolling them to get the air out, like the vacum bags.
Let me know if anyone has used them for anything

I used those bags when I took my DS and DD to WDW at the end of August. They were soooooo handy :wizard: . I could pack a days worth of clothes in them and at the end of the day used them as indvidual laundry bags! We we got home and I unpacked I put them back in the suitcase to use again next year when we go (hopefully!)

I used them recently to put all my shoes in, in my suitcase. I hate when my shoes touch my clothes.
I also have a seasonal condo. I used them to put blankets, pillows and towels in since we won't be there for a while.
I just love this size. I'll pick up more & I'm sure I will find many uses for them.
If I lived up north I think they would be good to store sweaters or other seasonal clothing in.

I packed my DD for sleep away camp using those.

They were great! All of her clothes fit easily in them.

When she came home, she packed using them and I was able to dump each bag directly in the washer. (If you've never had a child attend sleep away camp, let me just tell you that you can't even unpack the bags in your house...you have to do it outside! So the bags were a lifesaver!)

have any of you used them like the vacum bags and rolled them to get the air out.
I will definitely get them now from what you say.thanks for all your help!!!

I didn't use them at WDW this last trip, but I did use them on a canoe trip in the Adirondack's in August. And let me tell you, these things can take an absolute beating without letting a drop of water in. We purchased the huge ones from Dick's Sporting Goods. 4 for about ten bucks, and they held more than I could ever have carried around at Disney. They had a ton of different sizes too. I think mine was a full 15 gallon bag!

How much will one of the Zip Loc ones hold? Could I put my families (me DH, and 3 DSs) clothes for a day in one bag? We plan on wearing matching shirts and it would be so great to keep our outfits together. I also thought they might work to put our dirty clothes in to bring home.

the only place in my town i could find them at was K-mart and they had only the xl size so I got a box-haven't used them yet but during the winter we travel for figure skating competitons and figure these will be great for keeping dd11's things all together at the rink. then on to disney next fall............... :earsboy:

I'm still trying to find the new large sizes. I love packing with the 2.5 gallon bags but the larger ones will be even better...IF I can ever find a store around here that carries them. I will be packing some fleece items/jackets/etc. for our Nov./Dec. trip and I want to shrink the bulk down for more suitcase room. The larger sizes would make packing those items easier but I will make do with the 2.5 gallon size if I don't find the bigger ones.

I have seen them in Albertsons, Cotsco, & Walmart so far.

Me, too. Worse yet, I hate the thought of the airport security guys going through everyone's suitcases...checking some guys dirty laundry...then going through my stuff. I wanna ziplock everything!

Good price. Hope the link works:

That's actually a high price. I paid $5.99 in Walmart & $6.49 in Albertons.
But I guess if you can't find them anywhere it's a good site to have.
Cotsco had a large variety pack. I think it was around $25.00. I can't remember exactly how many of each were in there.

Thanks so much to whoever mentioned finding them at their Home Depot! I would have never thought to look there but that's the only place I did find them after searching several other stores. I bought the XL and XXL sizes and both were $5.97/box. Now, I can pack those bulky jackets, coats, sweatshirts, etc. without having to stuff them in the 2.5 gal. size bags! :teeth:

I ahve packed in ziplocs ever since my kids were old enough to dress themselves. I put socks, underwear shirt & shorts in each one, that way I don't have to worry about picking out outfits for everyone, they just grab a bag & get dressed!

Thanks for the tip about the new bigger ones. Now that DS is 11, it's getting tough to fit a whole outfit for him in the 2.5 gall bag.
