New with questions!

Hi everyone! I'm so happy I found this site, I'm really hoping I can find someone on here with a similar circumstance to mine who can give me some advice.

My husband broke his back in a paragliding accident in May, he opted to not have surgery and see if it would heal on its own. But it was bad, burst fracture L1, a couple fragments near spinal column. He is doing much better now, but we know he will not be living the crazy life that he used to.

I have never been to Disneyworld!!!! Being so close to Disneyland I have gone at least once a year for the entire time I've lived in SoCal, but I've always dreamed of making it out to Florida someday. I really want to go for our next anniversary, just under a year from now. I'm hoping he will be all healed by then. The doc said 1 year for complete healing so I padded it a few more months. But I'm still worried, I've read that once you break a vertebra you can never ride roller coasters again. Which is fine if that is the case, disappointing yes, but hey it could be so much worse right? But what constitutes as a roller coaster? Space Mountain, probably, but how about Splash Mountain - that just has a drop.

So here's my question. What can he ride out there? Anyone ever have a broken back here? Can you still ride the more intense rides at Disneyworld? Is there a section for these questions? HELP!

First of all WELCOME secondly, my condolences to you and your hubby for what I'm sure has been a very trying ordeal. It sounds like you are staying positive though and what better way to celebrate getting better than with a trip to the "Happiest Place on Earth?" Lastly, even though your husband's condition is hopefully not permanent, I think you should check out the disabilities forum here for answers to your ride questions. I mainly lurk and only post here and there but these boards provide an overwhelming wealth of knowledge on all things Disney. Since you're just now finding us, be prepared to while away all your free time on here for a bit LOL. Best of luck with your inquiries

Enjoy your trip, hopefully your husband is 110% for your trip. As far as rides go, there are signs on all rides it will say what type of people should not ride on the ride, such as a back problem or heart condition etc.

I think the best resource for the answer to your question is your physician. I know that I have high blood pressure and I asked the last time that I went if it was ok to ride all the rides and was told that it shouldn't be a problem. Make sure that you ask you doctor because you wouldn't want to get there, risk it and have major problems, etc. where you end up in the hospital far from home. Just my honest opinion.
