New Whatsapp message...

We should start a thread of the most obvious scam emails we have received. I don't use whatsapp, but got an email claiming to be from XM/Sirius radio the other day regarding an expired subscription. Have NEVER had a subscription, so their attempts to 'charge' my account makes this an obvious scam. Any email with poor grammar/syntax is bogus and makes me laugh when I hit the 'delete' button. Likely an attempt at phishing, so I did NOT click their link.

'Status' is misspelled and 'we tried renew' is missing a word.

I like the 'in case of ignorance' reference..............ignorance about what exactly? Clearly created by someone not fluent in English...................LOL.

My two "favourite" scams were one, a caller saying that my computer has the "malariware" virus and that she needed my credit card details to fix it and two, where the FBI was demanding money from me for a purchase I never made...

No longer answer our home phone if we don't recognize who is calling. Popular scams people have tried in the past: 1) We owe money to some hospital none of us have been associated with, 2) Someone cites legal mumbo/jumbo saying we are going to be arrested or similar nonsense if we don't pay them a fine/fee, 3) We owe a store money for a special order item and they mumble the name of the person who supposedly ordered this item using our phone number or 4) The IRS is calling demanding money for back taxes (IRS NEVER calls as the first point of contact, they send a letter). Apparently that scam is so common you can ever read about it on the official IRS website. A few others would start by saying 'this call is being recorded'............then we just hang up. NO ONE calling us who is running a legit business ever needs to start the conversation by telling us we are being 'recorded'.

Various others were from someone calling from what sounded like one of those 'boiler room' operations and speaks very poor English. We would just hang up before they could ramble off with whatever scam they are trying to pull.

With caller ID on our home phone, we now block numbers of those we don't know who repeatedly call and never leave a message. Legit businesses will always leave a message, scammers will NOT...........LOL.

When I think of Spam, I think repetitive advertising for a legitimate business. This reads like a Scam. These text scams are typically to bait you to reply and reveal personal information. I’d block them and delete if possible. Just don’t reply.
