New Welcome Show/Opening Procedure

I understand that the new welcome and rope drop procedure keeps people near the hub and then you can go into your land of choice at open. Are their ropes at each land? We had gone straight to tomorrowland along a side path and then up to fantasyland, and I didn't know if we could still do that or if only certain paths were available at rope drop now.

1. Yes.
2. Yes.
3. Which side path? (Going through the Tomorrowland Terrace Noodle Station Restaurant?)
4. Which way from there? I'm lost (and I know the place pretty well.)
5. I don't know of any advantage or disadvantage route if you plan on entering any "land" when they drop the ropes.

Thanks Robo! You're such a resource on these boards!

Honestly I can't really tell you - it was our first trip a few years ago - and with 2 little ones I probably didn't pay attention as much as I should have, I just remember hitting up buzz and up past the teacups and the circus area was in there too. I just wanted to make sure they did allow access to all the lands and not some crazy alternative :)

I added maps to my earlier post.
You can see some of the various Fantasyland and Tomorrowland "routes".

Are there any other path maps like that or did you make them just for this post? That's neat I would like to study them for our trip.

Hey Robo - Josh at EastWDW says going through the castle is always faster than going around for Peter Pan... even though you have to wait a moment for the show to clear. What is your experience here?

I have no preference.
But, I don't think that I'd want to say that anything at WDW is "always" one way.
(Who the heck knows just what X set of CMs might or might not do
on any specific morning?)

I originally made the map the way it is because of much discussion in past threads from other
posters who have
their favorite "shorter" routes on a multitude of different morning situations.

I also should mention that if you are pushing a stroller, the orange line on my map (around Hall of Presidents
and near Haunted Mansion) will take you right past the Peter Pan stroller parking area near the Tangled
Restrooms.

I miss the old opening show with the train. It was far more entertaining and the music was spectacular.

I agree. Plus, I loved how you couldn't see the park until you went through the tunnel, and then, MK was magically "revealed" to you.

I'll reserve full judgement until our August trip, which will be our first time with the new procedure, but the "old" welcome show was one of the very few super special things for us each trip. I have a feeling that I'm really going to miss it. :sad1:

Procedures change.
Some for the better.
Some, not so much.

Don't hold your breath. I am very disappointed in the new one so much in fact that I stopped going to see it.

We stood at the Liberty Square rope on Monday morning as we were headed to Peter Pan. We were right in front and got there pretty quickly and right on the ride, no wait just though the long que.

Does anyone know whether the fp+ queue for Mickey open when the Welcome Show ends or before? Usually we rope drop things like PP or MT, not the mouse- but we’re bringing someone for their first visit and want to start the day off properly. :)
