New WDW race? ESPN Weekend...

I didn't see anyone mention this, but on the Disney Endurance website they have a 5K listed in February during the ESPN weekend. Sorry if this is old news, but thought I'd post it in case someone might be interested.

It says personalized bib if you register by Feb 2nd, you are right dizneyfan23, they better get moving on this one!

I pulled up Dicks Sporting Goods website since they are the sponser but the only race listed there is the Pittsburgh 2009 marathon.

Have you looked at the National Kidney Foundation 5K? It is technically not a Disney race but it is run though Epcot in March. I happened to be in Florida last year on that weekend and ran it. You start in the Epcot parking lot and run to the left of Epcot (the side with Wonders of Life), around an employee parking lot, around the back of Test Track, Wonders of Life, and Ellen's Energ. You enter the park and run into and then around World Showcase from Mexico around to Canada and then exit the front of the park for the finish. It was a lot of fun. On a side note I am going to be looking for a 5K in the Disney area the morning of the podcast cruise since we are getting in the night before. I'm hoping there will be a Disney event but if not I'm sure I can find something in Orlando or Clermont since it seems they have a lot of 5Ks there.

Registration is open, $45 until Feb 22nd I think. Wonder how they are going to market this on short notice.

Thanks Frank, no, I haven't heard of the National Kidney Foundation 5K. I will definitely keep that one in mind too. Do you know the date? I can't find it listed.

Last year it was March 8th but I don't see it listed yet for 2009. Since it is not a Disney race as much as a race that takes place at Disney it might move venues.

The National Kidney Foundation 5k was fun last year. I liked that is was smaller. I'm looking forward do doing the espn 5k this year, but I'm thinking its not going to be as small. It sounds like this race is going to be a yearly thing.

There is 5k at Epcot on March 7th during Princess weekend. Could it be run by the National Kidney Foundation? I was going to run it since I didn't want to run the same Half course for the Princess Half marathon.
