I haven't been following the boards too closely lately as we have been saving up points for an extended family vacation (yes, I said I'd never do that again and here I am planning another one - go figure:confused3 ). Anyway, we're planning a large family trip with the possibility of needing 3 - 2BR or possibly 2-2BR and 2 studios. We'll make our reservations at our home resort at the 11 month mark, but at 7 months we might try to trade to another resort. We're thinking maybe VAK for the savannah view or maybe BCV for the location and SAB. Will the changes in the waitlist affect our need to waitlist for several rooms? Or because it's one "reservation" we would just waitlist the whole thing and either get all or nothing? Am I correct you can only have 1 active waitlist at a time - so we couldn't waitlist for both VAK & BCV. Like I said - I don't read everyword on here like I used to and sometimes don't even read the Disneyfiles magazine anymore. I still love my DVC - I just don't have enough time to keep up like I used to.

I just dealt with the wait-list issue today with MS and the new policy is not member friendly.

You are only allowed two active wait-lists per membership per UY. Each reservation is one wait-list request.

The requests are also restricted by room type. If you want a 2 bedroom at BCV you must select dedicated or dedicated with two beds or lock-off. Each room type is a separate wait-list. If you wait-list a dedicated and dedicated with two beds, that's your two active wait lists. You can't wait-list the lock-off.

And this "improves the Membership experience"? I don't see how. :sad2:

The new waitlist changes will make things difficult for you. You might decide to just stay at your home resort. Good luck.

With that many seperate reservations, I would think it would be a nightmare even with the old waitlist! Instead, I'd probably explore changing resorts at the 7 month window, and if all room types weren't available, I'd probably stick with what you have.

So, am I reading this right? Reserving 3 - 2BR would be 3 separate reservations and I couldn't waitlist for them if the resort we are wanting isn't available at the 7 month mark. That would be 1 more waitlist than I'm allowed. Somehow, I wrongly assumed that my entire reservation would count as one waitlist. Like I said earlier - I haven't kept up with much lately, but this is rather aggravating. I guess if we can't change to a different resort at the 7 month mark - we'll just have to stay at VWL. We love it there, but treated the family to this resort several years back - we were hoping to take them to a different resort this time. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

You are correct but it gets worse. Lets say that you wait-list at BCV for a 2 bedroom. You will be asked which type of 2 bedroom you reply lock-off. That is one of your 2 wait-lists. If a dedicated or 2 bed dedicated unit becomes available, you won't get it.

Now do the same thing for another room and you have reached your maximum wait-lists allowed.

What if you don't care if the room is a lock off or not? Can you wait list for a "generic" 2BR and get whatever comes up first? I know that some people's whole Disney experience is tainted if they don't get every single thing they desire, and they should have a chance to ask for what they want, but for those of us who would be happy in any 2BR at a given resort - why limit? Maybe the wait list could be checked for specific requests first and then re-checked for the generic requests next. If nobody's wait list matches the specific 2BR category that is available, and I match as a generic 2BR, then what is the harm?

I realize that it would require a competent computer programmer to implement the two phase wait list search, and the DVC development staff takes a lot of abuse on these boards, but this really isn't rocket science. Hopefully threads like these are being monitored to get the next list of enhancements for the system. :surfweb:

Another thing to think about

I recently rented points and then at the 7 month window per the renters request switched their 2 reservation to BCV studios(originally both at OKW) So I could only switch one at a time and the person at MS told me that as they were switching the "1st ressie" over there was always a possibility that the "2nd ressie" would not be available as other MS personal are/were making ressies for other members. I went through with the transactions with renters permision and both went through but I don't understand why they just couldn't keep the second studio on hold while we processed the first:confused3

You could add another once you matched one if I'm understanding the current rules correctly.

Is this issue of dedicated or lock-off unique to two BRs at BCV? I've reserved studios at BCV, and never been asked to specify a type. I'm hoping that waitlisting for a studio at BCV is only one waitlist. I would think that there are 3 possible waitlists for studios at BWV.

It's not unique to BCV but it is complicated due to the two types of dedicated 2 BR. I would also assume that booking category would be separate wait lists as well. For BWV you could have 6 different WL possibilities if they stick to this process. Dedicated vs LO and view types. I think it remains to be seen how this will sort itself out and how broad or specific they will end up being with these issues.

2 bedroom units are separated into different room types (reservable) based on if they are dedicated or lock-off. Studios and one bedroom usually are not, however AKL seems to have the studios in Jambo in separate categories.

Here is a list of the different room types/categories that I came came up with (please correct me if I'm in error). From this list you can only wait list 2 at any one time.
