New Updates for Maui Dining Begin Jan. 8th

Wow thanks for the heads up. Our whole party of adults is boostered and ready to go in February. Wonder if this will happen on all the other islands as well, specifically Oahu. We will be getting our 14 year old the booster before our trip as well. I will have to keep an eye on this news.

So what if someone just got their first vaccine shot ever. Since they are not technically "eligible" for a booster are they exempt? I read "Those eligible for vaccination boosters are people who have received their first two-dose series six months ago or more."

I have been vaccinated since last april and got my booster last month. My fiance has yet to be vaccinated for the first time and is planning to do so in February before our March honeymoon.

Since he isn't "eligible" for a booster I am guessing he would be okay? If not I am cancelling my honeymoon for sure.

I would suggest that your fiancé get their shot today,,and then the second shot before they leave, unless it is the JJ,,but get it sooner than the month before. Hate for it to screw up a honeymoon.

He plans to go in February and get the J&J. I'm fine with the rules but they should definitely let people cancel things without penalty if they get stuck in a weird situation. I would have 250 DVC points go into holding if I had to cancel within 30 days for some reason.

Booster eligible is 2 months after J&J, so he should be fine. This is also for Maui, not yet Oahu.

You should be ok as long as he gets the second moderna/pfizer shot more than two weeks before. They don't require a booster for people with less than 6 months since their second shot.

Does anyone know if you need to allow 2 weeks to pass from the time you get your booster for it to count? I'm from Canada where they've been slow to roll out the boosters. I'm eligible as of January 16th and should be able to get my shot before we are in Maui on Feb 5th, but if I can't get an appointment until a bit later it might be cutting it a bit close if there has to be a 2 week buffer.

Maui had delayed the requirement until January 24th.

Not to my knowledge, but keep checking the local news. Hawaii News Now and Star Advertiser are your best bets.

I agree. Oahu implemented the Safe Access program and didn't account for 12-15 year olds who didn't have time to be fully immunized. (Vaccine was approved in late August, Safe Access started mid-September.) Sure, they could test, but most stores were sold out of home tests around that time. Testing sites had long lines and it could take more than 48 hours to receive results.

I wouldn't be surprised if Oahu starts requiring boosters soon for those who are eligible.
