New Trailer..."Princess and the Frog"

Awesome! Thanks for sharing! That was always one of my favourite fairy tales as a kid (and now!) If only we could get Rapunzel done too!

Cool, can't wait for this one! I'm glad there doing some more traditional animation.

We'll see how the movie comes out - the "pros" are the directors and the voice talent - the "cons" are the lame title (kind of sounds "Great Mouse Detective-ish" and maybe the music by Randy Newman - if he can branch out a little and write truly story driven and/or story driving numbers it'll be good.:thumbsup2

...Rapunzel currently has a 2010 release date. It will be done in a combination in 2D, but feel like a traditional Disney movie (unlike Chicken Little, Meet the Robinson's, ect...) It uses heavy influences from the painting, 'The Swing'. Here is a test for it's animation http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kRO6EHhPr5g

2010 will be an AMAZING year!!! Alice in Wonderland(Tim Burton Motion Caption film), Rapunzel, Toy Story 3, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader and Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. Disney will rule the box office in 2010.

I'm so excited. When I heard they were making this and Rapunzel I was all   but I was worried it would never make it off the lot for a while there.

I have a sinking suspicion that they are still struggling with the story/plot line.
When you click on "story" on the trailer site, all it gives you is setting and dramatis personnae - no plot overview.
After viewing the trailer, I can honestly say that I have no desire to see this movie.
Glad to see the return to traditional animation, though.

Honor Hunter over at Blue Sky Disney posted about this a couple of days ago. He's an extremely reliable source of information with great contacts at Disney, even if he did get the name of the movie wrong. ;) Here's what he wrote:
Everything I've heard about "The Frog and the Princess" is really glowing. About a third of the film is finished animation right now and the first act is a return to the classic films of the Second Golden Age... one that reminds us why we love Disney animation. The story men are still working on the second act and third acts, tweaking and tightening the story structure so that the film dazzles the audience, both boy and girl, child and child-like... and it's something the animators over in the Hat Building are very, very proud of.

So you're right that they're still hammering things out, but personally I'm extremely optimistic about the film. :)

Both myself and DD8 are very excited about this film. I just came across the trailer. I was hoping for more info on the plot. I read that Disney will not release this during Christmas holidays but instead Thanksgiving 2009. I forgot what movie was releasing during Christmas, but whatever movie it was, Disney didn't want the competition. How true, I don't know, but it's interesting. BTW, my family have made a tradition of going to the movies on Thanksgiving morning. B4 DH had children we would go on Christmas morning.

I highly doubt that they would retheme POFQ for this movie. That's a longshot, IMHO. However, I can see them selling merchandise at the gift shop there.

I doubt that Disney will 're-theme' the entire resort, but I'm not sure that was what the OP was suggesting, rather than suggesting that this could be Princess Tiana's home resort - sort of speak. I'd read some time ago that Port Orleans would begin to have Princess Tiana (as a promotion for the film) have story time there. That was some time ago, though. That would offer some excitement for the seemingly 'low-key' resort. It would make me upgrade from a value. Also, think about the rooms that Caribbean Beach has now (the Pirate rooms). I could see a few kid-friendly rooms like that at Port Orleans. Whether or not Disney decides to tie the Princess and the Frog film to the rooms is a whole different question, but I wouldn't be surprised that all the mods have a few kid-friendly rooms

Disney doesn't re-theme resorts or design new rides based on a film until they see how well the film does at the box office. Look how long Pirates was out before they altered the ride or refurbed the rooms at CB.

But I have a feeling this film will be a huge hit, and you will see a lot of tie-in's in the parks.

Between this movie in late 2009 and all those 2010 movies -I better start saving up now :rotfl2:
