New Traffic Warning System for getting to Logan

In an effort to assist people in getting to and from Logan airport during tunnel repairs, Massport officials and the governor's office announe a new system for alerting people as to the best way to get to Logan at any given time. Studies during the first week have determined that at sometimes during the day it is advisable to take one of the harbor ferries and at other times to use the alternate routes using the Callahan tunnel.

Henceforth, lanterns will be hung in the steeple of the Old North Church. One if by land, two if by sea...................................

Can you hear me laughing from Norton?? :wave2:

Now that's funny!!! And funnier still....perhaps if enough people couldn't see those lanterns, they could change the coloring of the lights at the top of the old John Hancock...you know, that whole red, blue, white thing.

Sounds good. At least we know that the laterns are reliable!
Seriously we have 4 months before our trip & I don't have any hope of any of this being fixed by then.

That's why we're taking a limo from Salem. Just don't want to start our relaxing vacation with all that stress from driving to the airport! Besides, the kids think it's so cool to take a limosine. That is the true start of our vacation!

Um, okay alien - but coming from Salem, the limo will use the same SAFE tunnel that you'd use if you drove yourself.

I hope they make sure the lanterns are really bright...so I can see them from Franklin on the 10th when we leave for WDW. Thanks for the laugh.

To get to Logan on the 10th we're taking the commuter rail to South Station, then walking to Rowes Wharf to take the Water Shuttle. Coming home we'll have a limo get us.

kaytieelder,
I doubt if they'll use the tunnel - probably go via Chelsea. At least they've done that in the past.

Why go through all that trouble? From South Station, you can board the Silver Line bus that goes directly to the airport and stops at each terminal. Rowe's Wharf isn't that far, but it's also not all that close to South Station, especially with luggage.

I know you're laughing, but on the off chance you're serious, or anybody else coming from New Hampshire or anywhere north or northwest of the airport is concerned, the connector tunnel closure has NO effect on our ride to the airport with the possible exception of additional traffic.

Thanks for the suggestion. But with only a couple pieces of luggage it will be a nice walk and you can't beat the water shuttle for a nice view on the way over. Also, I've been hearing horror stories about the traffic the Silver Line has been hitting since they have now closed the tunnel to the busses. I worked in this area for 10 years and everything is so close...

My only response to this is Southwest non-stop to Orlando from Manchester or Providence.
