Just bought an MP3 player :)

It's a Creative Labs Zen Micro - looks like an iPod mini but has better sound quality, longer battery life, larger disk (5Mb), and it has a built in FM radio :)

So far ripped and downloaded 20 CDs from my collection, only another 30 CDs to go :)

mp3 players are great!!! I have an ipod and I take it everywhere with me - I especially like audio books as I am too lazy to read!!!! :cool1:

i've got an ipod too. they'r great. i've got mine plugged ino mini speakers, takes up less room than a cd player!!

Very Nice Tim :teeth:

I have just looked it up on Amazon and from the description it looks like they have addresses a lot of the shortcomings of the iPod when they created this player. I'm not sure it's quite as 'good looking' as an iPod but that's just a personal opinion and the geek in me tells me I should think about the technical abilities of the product and not what it looks like, that's what DW is for (waits for withering look  ).

I don't envy you sitteng there ripping all your cd's to mp3 though.

It sounds great Goofyish

The girls had a cheaper one each for Christmas, and they've downloaded loads of songs that remind them of our recent trip - they love it

Have fun with your new toy

Very nice Tim. I have a mini ipod and absolutely luv it.

I know the feeling I bought myself an ipod as a birthday present last yr hehe and used it so much when we went back to florida the following month, and i still use it all the time, and will be on the horrid flight there again in april. yay!. i sympathise (sp) with adding the songs to ur mp3 player i have 3500+ on mine and it took agggeeeesss hehe.

I hope your having lots of fun with your new toy :cheer2:

I feel like a complete perv, but when I read "new toy" I immediately thought of the one I got last week. Let's just say it has three speeds and a kick start. HaHa. I love mp3 players!! Had mine for over a year now.

Getting on really well with my new toy - just listening to " You Give me Good Vibrations" ;)

One thing I don't like are the head phones. The in-the-ear type things make my ears hurt after a while. Can anyone recommend a small pair of normal headphones suitable for an MP3 player?

Nah, it's a doddle. The Zen Micro can play Windows WMA files which are smaller than MP3's but are juts as good to listen to. If you set Windows Media Player up correctly, all you need do is whack a music CD in the drive and it will automatically rip the tracks from the CD onto your hard drive. It's a very fast process. It'll also get the track/artist details and attach it to the file so that when you download it to the player its ready to go.

Using both optical drives in my PC, I reckon I could do about 25/30 CD's an hour. As it is I just get my daughter shoving her Atomic Kitten / Liberty X / Gwen Stefani CD's at asking me to get them onto her MP3 player!

Have to agree with AndRu I found the ripping process very quick and painless. I used the Creative software that came with the player. I just put the CD in the drive, the software then went away to the internet database to retrieve all the track/artist/album data and then after setting the format and bitrate you just pressed the rip button :) When it was completed it asked if you wanted to do another and even opened the drive door for you :)

Took about 5 minutes a CD to rip and load onto the player :)
