Uh oh, the dreaded 28-135!

I hope you have better luck with it than some folks around here (cough, jann, cough). I have sure loved mine.

But that body sure is a beauty. I keep hoping some terrible accident will happen to my Rebel XT so I "have" to get a new body.

My co-worker's DH just bought one and it arrived last night. It is his first DSLR, but he used to do wedding work with film and has a nice lens setup. I warned her that he is going to be "missing" for a little while now that it is here.

I am seriously concidering just selling the 28-135, I couldn't find a body only locally, and my scedule has been too crazy to try and ship recently... and with it being brand new, there isn't any price break for buying online either. I had to either pay shipping or tax...

I have a 40D on order (should arrive next week) but it comes with the 17-85 lens. I can hardly wait! Dying to see some shots from you while I'm in waiting...

But I don't get the bad rap on the 28-135 - I LOVE mine! Sooo much nicer than the kit lens that came with the XTi

I thought the 28-135 IS lens was just okay. but I sold mine and got the Sigma 18-200 OS lens and absolutely love it. I hardly ever take it off my camera.

Canon typically has a fall rebate of some kind (around oct 15th). Hope you don't end up kicking yourself if you could have saved over $100 by waiting a mere 18 days or so. But nothing is official so its still a gamble at this point.

I went ahead and ordered a new lens last weekend because if I would have waited until the rebate it would not have been here in time for the end of my kid's soccer season.

Yea the thought crossed my mind, but I am guessing that they won't have a rebate on their newest camera, maybe the 30D to blow out inventory or something...

My hardest decision was really 30D vs 40D. I decided to get the newest one, that way, when the 50 comes out I won't be wanting to do this again. I am ok being one rev behind, but 2 revs is a lot of new technology. I figure I have a good 3-5 years at this point before there are enough improvements to put me over the edge again.

Now the learning curve begins again...

Congrats on your new camera, I bought one a few weeks ago and love it, upgraded from the 20d. Though the menu is way different from the 20d I've now gotten use to it but still haven't tried live view yet.
We-Luv-Disney when did you get yours? Have you tried live view yet?

1) i am jealous, pure and simple but i hope you love it and am waiting to see some photos

2) i like my new 28-135 lens fine...not as much as a nice l but hey another l would just mean i had to wait longer yet for the 40 d so i will have to endure with what i have
