Hi all :sunny:

I have never requested any kind of upgrades before....how does this work? Do you request a better room and are you charged a better rate?

We are staying at POFR Jan 21-24 and booked a standard room. I was going to call back and request building 4 (due to location) - when I get there and see the resort could I request an upgrade perhaps to riverview in another building??

I am new to this upgrade thing- please tell me what I am missing!!

Thanks everyone:crazy:

You can always ask but be prepared to pay the difference. Sometimes they will simply upgrade you at no charge... other times they won't.

I can tell you at POFQ there really isn't much to the river/water view. It is either of the river or pool area. The thing is that the rooms don't have balconies so the only way to enjoy the view is open the blinds -- look across the walkway in front the room -- look between the trees and shrubs and catch a glimpse. The standard room typically overlook gardens. There are a few with a parking lot view, too, I think.

When you check in ... you can say to them ... do you by anychance having any water view/river view rooms available. They will look and either say yes, I will just move you ... or yes, it will cost X amount more ... or no, we don't have anything.

All rooms are identical in size and decor. If they are on a corner they have two windows. The only difference in them is a king bed or full beds and the "view" which really isn't worth the extra money.

We like bldg 5 as it sits right in the middle of everything. Bldg one is the same but a bit further from the food court and bus stop. Trust me, though, this resort is much smaller than the other ones, and I don't think there is really a bad room location. It may take you an extra 3-4 minutes of walking but that is about it.

Hope that helps. We stayed here about 10 times ... staying the first year it was built...and are going to be there Thanksgiving Day through Sunday before moving over to the AKL. We always enjoy this resort.

Thank you so much for your great reply!

I was looking for a building location that is close to the food court and the busses- would this be building 4? I am so glad that it is a smaller resort! Sometimes you get lost in the larger ones!! We dont care about the pool, so that is not a factor. And I suppose you are right about the waterview...although king size bed might be nice:hyper: !

Thanks for any tips and info you might have on this resort!

On our last visit we were first assigned to bldg 7. When we got to the room we decided this was not where we really wanted to be so we called the FD and request bldg 4. They gave us a great room. It faced a garden and the parking lot but was so close to the bus stop and food court. We also like bldg 3.

You will love this resort, the smallness is definitly one of his strengths.

We "requested" building 5...but when we checked in (right before the hurricane Jeanne hit) we learned that people from CBR were being evacuated...so we took whatever room we could get...which ended up being in building 7 - parking lot view.

We had no problems with this room at all...the entire resort is on the small size, so even the walk to the food court/buses was less then 5 minutes...

but I have to agree - dont' bother with requesting a 'view' at a moderate...it's not worth it.

I loveee....upgrades, especially FREE ones. My family and I have gone to Disney World every year for the past 5 years and have always managed to get some type of upgrade and have never paid for it!! I have always paid for a standard view room but have never had a standard view! Here is what I AlWAYS do....get the fax number to the resort you are staying at....fax your room request 4 days prior to your date of arrival. In your letter always let the room assignor know if there is a special occasion, ie birthday, anniversary etc. (that always seems to help). When you checkin, don't necessarily ask for a upgrade, 4 out of the 5 times I was upgraded without having to ask! If it doesn't seem like you are automatically going to get some sort of upgrade, by all means ask. I've found in my experience, it never hurts to ask, all they can say is NO, but at Disney World, they rarely say NO.
