New to Universal

Hello folks - taking the gang (wife with kids ages 8, 6, and 4) to Universal this Fall for the first time. Curious, how would you rank the attractions/rides at Universal and IOA in terms of intensity and/or motion sickness inducing for a bunch of little ones who may meet the height requirement, but also could be put off by something that's 'too' intense.

I am an adult mail and found the simpsons ride to be nauseating. I couldn't wait for it to be over.

i normally don't get sick on rides.

Simpsons and Forbidden Journey for me cause motion sickness. Everything else including the coasters I`m fine with.

Simpsons to a greater degree........can`t go on that all now. FJ I can do once, maybe twice.......but it`s such a good ride....

But FJ can be a little intimidating if your kids are scared of spiders for example.....they are very vivid on the ride.

I don't suffer from motion sickness, but Forbidden Journey was the worst for my wife, followed by the simpsons ride. those two pretty much shut her down for the day. Transformers which she didn't ride I think I would also put on this list, just too much going on, and not very enjoyable in my opinion. Spider man which is essentially the same ride is 1000x better.

Hi I have to agree with pp about Simpsons. Nobody in my family liked it and two of us got motion sickness.

The mummy is one of my favorite rides, however, it is an indoor high speed coaster that is quite dark. It is not a tall one but it can go fast. The ride itself could be a little scary for little ones. You might want to check it out on you tube.

We really like Kong but we have always used the express pass. I heard the regular queue line can be a bit scary. The ride itself is good but there are movie scenes that could be intense for a little one.

Forbidden Journey is a bit of a dark ride and I think it could be intense for littler ones. My DD and I find it claustrophobic and makes us a little nauseated. DH really likes it with no problems.

Everyone has different opinions on attractions. With my kids, I started small and worked our way up until they tapped out.

I`m the same with Transformers actually........I love and enjoy Spider-Man but TF I cant deal with it........

I didn't think I could ever get Motion Sickness, until I rode FJ and Simpsons.

They are the only rides that have ever given me motion sickness.

Simpsons is the worse of the two, since you have to ride FJ!

Any thoughts on Storm Force Accelatron? I rode it only once, a year or so after the park originally opened. Never again. Back when the Simpson's ride was Back to the Future themed, I used to ride it, but over the years, its gotten where that one now messes with me as well.

US answer to the Disney Tea Cups. If you spin them, you are asking to get sick.

i agree with the others- I don't get motion sickness but I really don't like the Simpsons. I don't get sick but feel dizzy and can't wait until it's over! I can do FJ once but again the part that almost tips you upside down is too long for me!

I can't offer much help as I don't get motion sickness on most rides, just long car trips and "spinners". I have ridden Simpsons several times in a row. You know how much you can handle and you wanted a ranking.

Intensity is in the eye (or stomach, back, neck etc.) of the beholder but I would rank Simpson's and Forbidden Journey as intense followed by the roller coasters. The visible ones that is. Next would be the grouping of Mummy, Transformers and Spiderman in that order. Storm Force is as intense as you make it. As a PP noted, it is IOA's answer to tea cups. It is the one thing I won't ride because spinners and I are not friends. Dr. Doom's fear fall is intense as a drop ride, but doesn't usually cause motion sickness. For those who dislike the "drop" sensation, it does have that. Some are affected by the "simulator effect" on Minions. If this is you, stationary seating is available and can help. Some do not like the spinning on Men in Black but it is entertaining enough for most not to be affected.

I never get motion sick, can ride spinners and coasters all day long, but the last time I rode Simpson’s I got sick. I think there was a problem with the frame rate or something as I have been able to ride it many times before.

My husband is very prone to motion sickness and cannot do FJ, Simpson’s, spinners or Hulk. He can do Spider-Man and Transformers, Mummy and RRR.

They just improved the quality of the film at Forbidden Journey. It will be interesting to see if that curbs the motion sickness.

Is it basically identical to Tea Party in terms of operation? Meaning you have direct control of how fast you spin? I'm generally fine with Tea Party as long as I don't spin too much.

There is a wide variety in how people react. My son and I have ridden everything there and never once felt sick.
