We are heading back to Florida in October and will be going to Disney Parks for a number of days, but we have Universal tickets for 7 days. They were the same price as for the 2 day ticket, so we figured we might as well plan for liking it.

We will NOT be onsite. Does Universal allow you to take in food/drinks, etc. like Disney does? To save money, we pack sandwiches and snacks when we go to Disney.

Also, I have heard before about some ticket that you can purchase like a fast pass. What is it called and is it worth the price they charge for it? We'll be there in the middle of October, so no holidays will be around. We'll be there on weekdays to avoid local crowds. Is there anything that tells you least crowded days for Universal, like there is for Disney?

Yes...you can bring food/drinks in with you. Only use a soft sided cooler or backpack and no glass.

Universal offers Express Plus passes for purchase. The price depends on the anticipated crowd level for that particular day so it varies. I would wait until you arrive to determine if you need them. They are date specific and non-refundable.

You can look at the park hours section of the website to determine what types of crowds Universal might be expecting. With Harry Potter opening soon, it's basically anyone's guess right as to the crowd level into the fall.

Since you're going to be there in October, I would suggest going on Monday - Wednesday if you want to avoid the HHN crowds in the afternoon. If you want to go to HHN, make sure to go on a day when HHN is staged. You can take advantage of Stay & Scream which is where you get to stay in the park after closing to get a jump on the lines.
