New to Universal - Buy tickets online?

Hi!

We (my two daughters and I) have never been to Universal Studios. We are staying 1 night at Loews Portofino Bay Hotel. I would stay longer but that is the only night available the days that we are there. I've decided to stay the one night so that we can get into Harry Potter an hour earlier.

My question is should I purchase our tickets online prior to arriving or wait until we arrive. Are their any benefits to buying the 2 day Park to Park tickets online.

I apologize in advance for being such a "newbie" to all of this!

Tickets are cheapest through undercovertourist.com. Definitely purchase them beforehand.

Also, keep checking online for hotel vacancy. It changes a lot!

if you buy the 1 day tickets and another night opens up at the hotel, you can upgrade that ticket to a 2 day ticket.

go to guest services inside the park to upgrade.
you pay the difference of the costs.

don't leave the park when it closes and then decide to upgrade.
it has to be done on your last park ticket while in the park.

like damo stated, call and check back for openings on the additional date you need.
openings happen frequently.

If you buy online it is twenty dollars cheaper per person than gate prices and you can print them off for free at home and not have to wait in a ticket line. Also when I checked out online I had two 2 day 1 park (non hopper) tickets in my cart. When I went to check out it prompted me to upgrade them to hoppers for just ten dollars per person per day instead of twenty dollars that you would normally pay. We have APs now but that was our experience when we bought tickets online.
