Hello. My wife and I just booked our accomodations for a trip to WDW in late June (realizing that it will be hot and crowded). We have two children ages 6 and 2. To beat the heat we were planning on limiting our time at the parks to mornings and evenings. We will be staying off site at the Sheraton Vistana. Any suggestions on what hours to definitely avoid at the parks due to the heat factor?
Thanks!

We have always found the hottest time to be from around 1:00 to 4 or 5:00. An afternoon swim at your hotel will have you all feeling better to start enjoying the parks again in the evening.

:welcome: to the boards!!, I would have to agree with the times posted above. Keep in mind each park has the baby stations, which have everything available from pacifiers to formula and baby food. They have high chairs to feed your younger one and it is air conditioned great changing area, so sometimes that's what they need to get in out of the heat for a little:goodvibes.

Hi and welcome to the Dis:thumbsup2

You could try asking your question on the Family board
they might have some more tips and suggestions for you

Thanks, everyone for the tips. This is all very helpful and I will keep all of these in mind when planning our week. Another question I had was about car rental companies. Yestearday I was pricing car rentals (using coupons I have from the Entertainment book as well as AAA discounts. I was shocked at price difference between some of the companies. For Example: Alamo and National quoted me about $200 for a standard SUV for the week. Hertz was about $350 while Avis and Budget were in the high $400's.
Seems like a "no brainer" here based on the low prices offered by Alamo and National. But I guess I'm also a bit leary about the comparitively low prices offered by Alamo and National. Does anyone know of any reason I should stay away from either of those two companies? The Fodor's book I have said Alamo does not have a rental desk/kiosk at MCO but when I questioned Alamo about this they said that is not true and they absolutely do.

:welcome:

Definitely try to be at the parks EARLY--before they open is best. That way you can get in as soon as they open and enjoy them when it is less crowded. You will really get a lot of park touring done in the first few hours when the park opens because it is simply less crowded. At Magic Kingdom make sure you head to Fantasyland first and ride Dumbo first thing! The lines get long there and with your kids ages they are really going to enjoy most everything there.

As for your car rental question you would probably get the best answers if you asked it in our Transportation Forum : http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=16 You will find posters over there with lots of experience with what you are asking. Just start a new thread there and ask.

ETA: Forgot add that since you are staying offsite it would be best if you make sure you are aware of which parks are having Extra Magic Hours each day--particularly in the morning. Since you can't take advantage of this it would be best if you avoid the park having EMH each day. It will be more crowded.

Agree here, or just take an afternoon nap.
