New to this part of WDW stuff

My better half has used this forum for years but since I recently retired, she told me was about time I jumped in.
Question for the group.
When our children were munchkins (late 70's early 80's) we were not allowed to have personal floation devices in the campground pools.
They now have have their own munchkins and we will back in May with an 18 month old that does not swim.
What are our options?
My wife said she saw life jackets at Port Orleans.
Help and thanks in advance.

They do have life jackets at the pool. They also allow foam noodles and I have seen many small children with floaters on their arms or learn to swim suits that have built in flotation. There is also a separate gated splash zone now that is great for little ones.

Don't hold me 100% to this - but swim vests/suits and arm floaters are allowed for young children. As of last summer - swim noodles were fine - but no other flotation toys/devices were allowed. You might wish to call the front desk and ask because sometimes the rules change.

Can't comment on the pools, no young-un's that need floaties..

you can check out a life vest at the bike barn by leaving your room key while you are in the pool for your toddler, as they return your key when you return the vest and there is no charge for the vest either

we have done this many times with our son in the pool

I highly recommend the learn to swim suits w/floaties sewn in. My kids used them and it took the panic attacks out of having little ones in the water. We were actually able to enjoy ourselves and relax a little. The day we finally decided to let them go without the suits (coupla years ago) at my parents pool, they jumped right in (almost giving me and mom heartfailure and strokes) when they came back up they were swimming like fish. They loved the freedom and didn't have to deal with bulky floaties on their arms....and we never had to teach them to swim! I do recommend the ones with the floaties that are around the mid-section. They are less cumbersome and hold the kids up above the water much better than the ones that are more like a built in life jacket. We actually bought ours at Dollar General for $10 each.
