Hi....im super excited to be a part of this wonderful website. We have a make a wish trip coming up in Nov and i am starting the planning portion of our trip! I feel overwhelmed, because we have never been to WDW...and I hear there is so much to do and see. We are going on our make a wish trip becuz my youngest child was born w CHD, also a cleft lip and cleft palate. Just since hes been born he has underwent 3 open heart surgeries, one lip and one palate surgery. To say the least we have been through alot. We have two older children, who have been super amazing during this whole process. they are just as deserving as the actual wish child! any suggestions or info would be great! please help!!!:cool1:

Welcome pixiedust: Congrats on your upcoming trip! Your family will have a wonderful time.

It can be overwhelming planning a WDW trip. When planning our first, I read The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World for Families 20 times! I relied on www.allears.net, and this page for planning suggestions, menus and resort info too.
Take your time; decide what is important to YOUR family and HAVE A GREAT TIME! You are making wonderful memories! :flower3:

You and your family will have an incredible time!! This board is a great place for tips/ideas/strategies. I'm not a DisPro like some of these folks, but I have been a few times and learned what I like to do. Have you never been? or, just not with your family?

I over-plan for months before the trip. which park on which day? Which ride first, second, last? Parade schedule? restaurants I want to try? What time do I want to get up? leave the park? any rides to skip? I try to think about everything, and read as much as possible. Then, when I get there, I just go with the flow. I think, however, that it flows much better and faster if I have a plan before I arrive. I have some Disney friends who have no real plan, other than which park to go to on which day. It works for them, but, I can't do it.

My daughter is nearly 4. We went when she was nearly 2, and had a much better/easier time than I imagined. We arrived for park opening/rope drop every day, and left by 4:00 or so, with no return to the hotel. A lot of people strongly recommend the midday break. We were staying at AllStar Movies, and it was just too far and too much hassle to get there and back. We planned for short days in the park, and everyone was happy.

I subscribed to touringplans.com, and have read The Unofficial Guide cover to cover. Tons of good info. I am basing schedule for my upcoming trip on the Crowd Calendar on touringplans. I have no idea if it's accurate or not, but I decided to go with it. We'll see.

I'm a fan of the dining plans, although they are definitely not a bargain. It's just easier, to me, for budgeting purposes. I like knowing that I have a number of meals for the trip, rather than a max $$ per day. I would go over budget every single day.

I buy little Disney toys and glow necklaces before we go. Saves a lot of money.

My daughter LOVES LOVES LOVES the characters and parades. Make sure you get a couple of character meals in there. Check the parade schedule in the morning (it's also on touringplans.com). She really liked that more than the rides (of course, she was 2).

Photopass. I can't say enough about the photopass system. Yes, it's expensive if you order individual pictures. But, you can get the whole CD of all of them for $120. And, you don't have to fool with taking the pictures. AND, you get to be in the pictures with your family.

It's so wonderful for all of you that you are taking this trip. A ton of memories to cherish!! God bless your sweet little one, and the big kids for being so awesome! Have fun!!

I have been trying to purchase a few items for the kids to get them ready. Unfortunately we had a family emergency and so our funds have diminished. I know make a wish provides everything, but as parents we want to try and get them pumped up. We r so super excited and know that we are truly blessed.

Somehow going to WDW always makes things right. Watch out for the bug it will get you. Have a great time. My wife and I are less than a month away.

We leave for our wdw make a wish trip in 27 days! Does anyone know where I can get some Disney gear for my kiddos?n:cloud9:

When are you going in November?

Are you comfortable with DIY shirts? There are many wonderful ideas on here that you and your family can make.

we will be going on nov 10th thru the 16th.
I am comfortable w making shirts, possibly some iron ons....
ideas please, or direct me where to go

Hi and welcome to the boards! You will find tons of information herein.

We have been to WDW several, several times and from those visits would offer you the following advice for your trip:

1. Get up early and be at the parks when they open. This is my single best piece of advice.

2. Don't overplan. Have a basic idea, but don't take it to extremes and be flexible.

3. Make some advanced dining reservations now. The character breakfasts are awesome!

4. Use fastpasses

5. Enjoy yourself!

Have a great trip!

I've worked here (Disney) for about 5 years and love watching people plan their firsts trips out.

i agree with the do it your self shirts.

Or do it your self pins to just pin on any shirt.

i DISAGREE with the dont over plan. I plan everything in 15min increments...
i know that sounds bizarre right.........
And i am not a commando type tourist, some of those 15 minutes increments are just sitting somewhere....

BUT i had 4 children spanning 10 years difference, some wanted to want some didnt want to do......
I found that if there was a plan we could all agree on what was coming next.

try the dollar tree, they normally have some kind of disney items i have seen candy, playing cards, lip balm, variety of toys, stickers

HAVE A GREAT TIME
