Hi all -

I'm a long time DIS member who has finally bitten the bullet and decided to DO SOMETHING about my weight.

I'm 5'3", 156 right now. The last time I was at my (reasonable adult) goal weight of 128 was about 6 years ago. At that time, I got pregnant, lost that pregnancy at 16 weeks, got pregnant again, had my second DS, and have just never been able to shake the 25+ pounds of pregnancy weight.

Probably why -

I cook a lot for my family - there is always food around!

I think a lot about exercising (have a very expensive treadmill in my home), but never really stick with it. I WANT to be able to walk/jog several times a week, either on the TM or "out in nature" with the dog.

EVENING SNACKING!!! - cannot put enough exclamation points around this! All day, I have an internal dialogue with myself about NOT DOING IT AGAIN TONIGHT, but I always cave and then eat more than I originally intended in defiance of myself (?). I'm talking about a third of a container a haagen dazs at one sitting, followed by half a bag of some salty chip type snack. (blech - I can't believe I just wrote that)

Result of all this I'm miserable and PO'd at myself all the time, but self sabotage every day - argh - so frustrating!!

I just joined WW online today and have tracked my first two meals.

I'm committed to making this work and I think it would be really helpful for me to get into this forum and make some friends who have the same issues and goals. I especially will need to be talked down from the ledge in the evenings (after 8 EST) when the nightly snack struggle begins!

I welcome suggestions for threads to get into, tips that have worked and anything else that anyone has to say.

Hi Jane!

Welcome to WISH!

You are welcome to join the Biggest Loser Challenge. There is a main thread where you can read about the challenge and when you are ready to join you can pm buzz5985 for a team assignment.

I joined the BL challenge in Jan 2010 and have lost and kept off ~50 pounds. Along the way I have made some great new friends!:goodvibes

Thanks for the welcome Rose!

I have been poking around on the WW forums (on the WW online site) and it is really active with lots of posting too. I will check out Biggest Loser here and also keep looking there for inspiration.

Welcome aboard! I second Rose's suggestion that you come join the BL challenge! Plenty of us Weight Watchers there! Best of luck on your journey to a healthier life! ..........P

Hi, best advise I found here on WISH board was to check out "couch to 5k" I started it on the treadmill last year and I'm sure it is key to my 30 lbs lost.

Welcome! I agree about the C25K. It is a great program and tanks to it I am now training for multiple 1/2 Marathons...did I just write that?!?! As for the evening snacking, I had that problem too and I started chewing a lot of gum. :rotfl: It was not a perfect solution, but it helped.

I'm also one of the newbies here, and have found the board super welcoming and helpful so far-- even though it's only been a few weeks. :)

Welcome! :)
