I have posted since 2004 and never saw this forum! I'm excited
Anyone running the Marine Corp. in October?? Would love to know how it is? Thanks!

Just wanted to say 'Welcome to this forum...it is awesome"

I am running the MCM for the first time this year as my second marathon. My first was Disney 2008.

I am running the MCM for the first time this year as my second marathon. My first was Disney 2008.

Same for me. My first was Chicago. It was really flat until the last .2 and that was almost vertical!!! I am a little concerned about the first 2 miles of this; I hear it is hilly.

Hmmm haven't looked into it. I am training somewhere very hilly, so I am hoping I will be prepared for whatever comes my way.

What's the most mileage you both have put in thus far? It's so humid here in NC it makes it hard on those long runs.

I haven't trained for about 7 weeks now as I crashed my chair, but when I was training I was doing 20 - 30 mile each training session, 3 times a week and 13 -20 miles each training session, 4 times a week.
I also weight train, which i'm now back doing for 1:30 7 times a week.

On the 9th I'm going bact to the national training center to get a new weight lifting programme so that time might change, as they said I was not doing enough!!!!

I'm hoping to have my chair back in working order in a couple of weeks, then I will have to put in 20 - 30 miles every day to try to get back on track, as I am so far behind now.

Because of the crash all I am hoping to do at MCM is finish, then I will start racing at the end of november.

I will be doing a DC run next year but the National Marathon in March. One of these days I will probably get to the MC in my tour of races around the country. I am probably actually doing the National half and not the full.

This weekend my long run will be 16. I have several fall half marathons built into my schedule as well as some buffer weeks so I am a little ahead I believe.

So where is everyone staying??
We are near the pentagon as there is no way we could manage my chair, stroller and SD on the metro!!!!

Since I am local I am just getting up early and hopping on the Metro.

I'm running it too. This is my first MCM and my first marathon. I am both excited and nervous. Some days I can't wait and other days I don't want it to come. My longest run to date has been 13.6 miles. I will be doing a 15 mile run this week. The humidty has been killing me. I'm staying at Hampton Inn Reagon National. Does anyone know if this is close? I'm hoping it's not to far from start.

I am also running MCM. It is one in a series of races that I am using to get ready for my 1st Goofy. I am excited and nervous since this is such a big race. I have run 2 other marathons, the WDW marathon in 2008 and 2009. To me MCM is just a totally different vibe and I feel more nervousness for this one than I have for any other.

I am lucky enough to run with k80k and some other fun runners every other weekend and its great to have the support.

We are staying at the JW Marriott kind of close to the route. I did a 13 mile 2 weeks ago and tried to do a 17 last Saturday and quit after 8 miles:scared1: Too humid!!

The only good thing about running in the humidity last year was it prepared me for the Chicago Marathon. The average temp there was 60 degrees that time of year. It ended up being 89 degrees. People were falling like flies everywhere. That was the second year in a row the heat was overbearing in Chicago. I think all the training I did in the humidity pulled me through. Ten thousand dropped out before the race even started.

If this is your first congratulations:yay: I was nervous last time and will be this time. BUT the people are so great and everyone feels the same way you do. It took us 30 minutes to get to the starting line because I was in the turtle section. When we started walking I thought "now here's a good pace!"

I would love to keep hearing from you guys. My big fear is the fact that we will be on a Disney cruise the week before the race . That's a real kick in the stomach; to watch what you eat on the cruise??

I just joined WISH Friday night and will also be doing MCM, my second marathon. First being Disney 2009. Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Thanks everyone for the info.

I am looking at doing it next year and being from West Coast this will be all new to me out there. Never been to the area before.

Just a heads up to those wanting to complete this race. It is not very walker friendly as it has a 14 min/mile pace requirement through Mile 20. definitely doable but it may impact the way you train for it.
