Hi everyone, wanted to post and introduce myself. Im Omar from Ventura county 90 minutes north of disneyland. My girlfriend LOVES disneyland and has been an AP in the past. She had not attended in a while, so I got us a 3 day pass and a hotel stay for her birthday weekend late August. We wound up getting annual passes on the 3rd day of the pass as it was only another $80 on top of the $100 for the 3 day pass we had bought. I was at the park last friday and just LOVED how empty it was and so easy to access and hop on rides without a wait or need of a fastpass and was wondering if there are other AP holders in my area. My girlfriend works M-F and im itching to head out on a weekeday again sooner than later but would rather head with other people than alone.

I feel ya on going with people rather than alone but disney alone is better than no disney at all!!! :) Welcome to DIS :)

Welcome Omar! I'm from the VC too, in Oxnard! :) There's a couple Ventura County folks on the Dis!

My boyfriend and I have both have APs and usually go on weekends since I work M-F too. This next trip I'm actually taking vacation time so we can go during the week, which I'm excited about!

Welcome to the Dis!!! I'm not in VC, I'm much farther away but we still have AP's!! :)

weekdays is the way to go! we're in the same town :-) ya im all about going this year and using my AP to the max. weekends with my girlfriend are fun, but im ready to get some weekday use in after my experience last friday! Would be cool to get an 805 AP group and carpool. I've got the Parking pass this year, so would save on gas, and parking! :-)

:welcome: to DIS and the AP world. You will soon discover all sorts of reasons for unplanned visits to DLR!

I'm from Ventura County. I've been using up a lot of vacation days since we discovered our toddler likes Disneyland. We have the cheapest of the socal passes, which pretty much limits us to weekdays. Not that I mind! Both my husband and I are willing to go at pretty much the drop of a hat, and we'll usually do an overnight stay at one of the nearby hotels.

While I'm afraid I'm more of a lurker than a contributor, this board has been super useful for tips and tricks to get around the crowds and make the most of our visits.

Woo! Go Oxnard! We have a Ventura person and a Camarillo person on here too. I know! We have parking on ours too! We usually go Friday through Monday and Friday and Mondays are the best days, it's so much nicer and easier than Saturday and Sunday!!

Hi fellow Ventura County-ian! :wave2: :)

My fiancee and i are in Camarillo. She's an Orange County native and i'm from T.O. we both have AP's. We usually go on sundays or friday nights. we have a friend in Tustin so sometimes we just stay the night at her house and go early Sunday. We both work M-F but weekdays in the cooler weather is the BEST! We haven't been able to go as often this year due to economics and all the junk for planning our wedding and honeymoon (few more weeks!).

Hi and Welcome! I'm also a VC resident, representing Santa Paula! Have been an AP passholder the past 11 years. My kids are now both in school, so we are pretty much relegated to weekends these days. I miss those off season weekdays!! Once in a while we'll play hooky though for a Disneyland mental health day.

As a previous poster said, the Dis boards have a TON of information. I lurk here almost daily!

Hey - if that Ventura County carpool comes together, PM me... I'm in!

Ventura County rocks ! My DH is a 3rd generation oxnard native, I was born in Port Hueneme on base, we married in Camarillo, and my DD was born in Ventura.
To be more specific I am a 1980 Rio Mesa grad.

Welcome to the DIS :)

WOOHOO! You go, Judy!!! :thumbsup2 :yay: :yay:

It really cool to see so many people with ties to the area posting. I always wonder where everyone comes from on an average day in dl and how many others from my hometown are at the park. I have december 14-18 off for winter vacation :teacher: so im looking to go during those days prior to my 3 week blackout. I have the 215 days AP so i get M-F and sundays with the exception of xmas spring break, and most of the summer(too hot anyways)

:welcome:
We're from Camarillo but I was born and raised in Oxnard. I've been going to Disneyland almost since they opened and it's still just as magical. :tink: We'll be there on Saturday for a 4-day trip using our first ever annual passes but plan to renew again. We usually stay at the DLH or GCH but this time are at HoJo for the first time. The reviews I've read on the Disboards for HoJo are amazing and we can stay for 3 nights and still be able to afford our deluxe annual pass for the same price as one night as DLH. DGS says he'll miss room service at DLH but knows it will get him his next annual pass so says it's OK.

Simi Valley here. We have had APs for about a year now and have gone at least a dozen times. My wife is a SAHM and takes DD with a friend and her DD at least once more a month, on a weekday. Somehow they pick the busiest weekdays, but is still does not compare to the crowds on the weekends.

We just went this past Sunday and the fires kept everyone away. The smoke did not come through DL until early afternoon, which is when we decided to leave. The longest line we waited in was about 30 minutes to see Tinkerbell. What a beautiful day, too.

Wow! There's a lot of people from Ventura County I didn't know where on here! Awesome!!

I think when the time comes and we have kids, I will try my best to be a stay at home dad just so I can go to DL on the weekdays. hahaha!
I enjoyed the drive much more when we lived in Simi. We'd just hop on the 118 from Stearns and hit the 5 or whatever depending on traffic. Living in Camarillo aka "the rillo" we end up taking the 101 and I HATE the 101!! Used to drive T.O. to Sunset/Cahuenga every day for school. Needless to say the 101 left a sour taste in my mouth.

How about we befriend a rich VC resident who perhaps owns a helicopter. Then we can all just parachute into DL instead of the 1.5 hour + drive?
