My Wife is an RN so we have decided to take advantage of the discount offered by the Swan and Dolphin. But I don't know that much about the resort so we need some help.

We have decide that between the two we want to stay at the Dolphin so what type of view should we request if we want to look towards epcot, resort or lake? Is this even a good view, or does anyone have any suggestions on a room to request that has a spectacular view. Is a Concierge club room worth the money?

What perks are we missing out on by staying here rather then in a Disney resort? I was told the only thing we will miss out on was charging our purchases to our room. Is this the only thing?

And lastly can we still fax a room request in asking for a complimentary upgrade, a perticular room, any other special wants or do we just need to ask when we check in?

You will love the Dolphin. We ended up there by accident in '97 (Disney was booked) and fell in love with the place. Now we make it part of every trip to Disney. Both times we had amazing discounts and were upgraded, for free, to spectacular views (and we never even asked). Both times we had views above the 7th fl., with views of Epcot/MGM/BW. The last time we had a corner room and were able to watch Illuminations from bed. I would request your view on your ressie and then again when you check in.

As far as perks, you are right about charging back to the room. You can't do it unless you're at a S/D restaurant/shop. You also won't get Mickey wake-up calls. Other then that, all perks are the same. You can have packages delivered back to resort, character caravan comes to resorts a few times a week, E-nights, etc.

I don't know anything about club level or faxing requests. Have you checked Glo's site with everything you could ever need to know about S/D. Have a great trip, you will love Dolphin.

Just came back from our first Dolphin trip. We've stayed at the BC, the Poly, & ASSports, so weren't sure what to expect, but it was wonderful. I requested a deluxe balcony view, east wing, Epcot view when I made the ressie. (I used the teacher's rate) Faxed request the week before (From Glo's S/D site) No one got back to me, but when we checked the man checking me in smiled and said you got everything you asked for, and we went up to room 8025. What a view, overlooking the water, BC, BW and a direct view of Epcot and illuminations at night. I was impressed that I went at the crowded Easter time and it turned out so well.
Enjoy the planning!:)

I also agree that you will love the Dolphin. We were there last August and received the Teacher Discount. For $99 (yes, we got the misprint rate!) we were upgraded to a king bedded room with 2 balconies overlooking EPCOT, BW and MGM. The only disadvantage, if it is one to you, is not being able to charge to the room. So, you have to carry your room key and a credit card. This didn't bother us at all.
The room was lovely, the Grotto pool is great (try the shark's tooth drink!), and the location is superb. We have been at the Contemporary, BC and WL and are returning to the Dolphin for 6 days again this August.
Have a great time!

The Dolphin is one of our favorites! We were there during the first week of February, and had a fabulous balcony room facing Epcot:

Our room was in excellent condition and I couldn't have asked for a better location, room 6025, east wing.

We watched the fireworks from Illuminations every night right from the balcony. You can't beat the location of the Epcot resorts, and it's easy walking distance to Epcot, and MGM. With the Boardwalk at your back door, your dining options are almost endless!

We just returned from the Dolpohin yesterday and we were blown away by the resort - the rooms are wonderful, the Grotto pool was huge and gorgeous, the whole place was immaculate! My DH, who used to travel extensively, proclaimed the Dolphin to be a "world-class resort!" We are already planning our next vacation there!

This is a VERY nice resort and you'll really like it. Great location and if you're high enough some of the best views in all of WDW. Stop by our site .... we added around 50 Dolphin (and some Swan exteriors) last month after staying there. We also added several typical room interior shots including the bathroom area.

I'm a teacher and got in on that rate...and then we asked for a better location and got a complimentary upgrade to the 16th floor.

Loved it.

But then again, I was in the same room 2 floors higher last month. I'm so glad so many people told me to request that resort view!
