Hi Everyone,

This is the first time I'm posting to the board. Just back from WDW and have contracted a pin collecting virus, what fun! I have a few questions that I hope someone can answer -
1. What is a rack pin?
2. I have been looking at eBay, how can some sellers price below the actual cost of the pin?
3. Is there such a thing as forgery pins?

Hi there! and welcome to the DIS Collectors board!!

I'll do my best to answer you're questions.

1. A "rack" pin is a pin that is available to be purchased by the public and is open stock and not limited in any way.

2. This is a tough one. Some sellers start an auction below cost hoping that the low starting bid will drive the price even higher. This can save them some money on auction fees. Others may get a discount, like the Disney Club 10% discount, some may be pins that are bought at clearance at some of the Disney outlets and some may be pins that the seller has had for a while and wants to get rid of.

3. Yes there is. Some are very poorly made, while others aren't too bad. There are also "fantasy" pin which are pins not made by Disney that are in some way conected to Disney. An example might be a non-Disney convention. These pins usually have a character that is covered up or just show a hand etc.

Hope this helps. If you have any other questions feel free to post and the great people on this board will be happy to help you.
