I just started collecting pins recently and I know nothing about trading or even what I should be collecting. Where do you buy them besides the parks and resorts? I have heard of sets of pins. How do you go about collecting those? Im so confused and I could use some help from the knowledgable people on this board.

You can start by reading the Pin Trading Etiquette. Pins are also sold at the Disney Store if you have one near you. You can use links like:

pinpics.com
dizpins.com
dizneypins.com

to find out info on all pins. I am new at this too but these tools have been helpful along with some of the folks I met at our local pin trading meets that we have in our state. That is something else you can check on. Every Tuesday night is supposed to be pin trading at your local Disney Store so if you live by one, you may want to check that out too. If you are close enough to WDW, they hold pin meets there too weekly.

Good luck and enjoy.

ps - what ever you do, pick a few categories of pins you want to collect so you don't go crazy trying to get them all. Its amazing how many new ones come out each day.

Thank you so much Buzz!!!

Being new to collecting I really don't have anything to trade yet. How do I handle that if I see a pin at a meet that I like?? Do I offer to buy the pin? I don't want to offend anyone. I am seriously new at this. I think I only have ten pins at the moment LOL

Everyone has to start somewhere. Welcome to the collector's board.

Usually you would offer to trade a pin for another pin. When you are just starting out, it is difficult to know what to offer, or to have a pin to trade that the other person doesn't have. My suggestion would be to pick up some extra pins as traders at your local Disney Store, at the Parks, or on ebay. Also, there are usually board members offering to sell pins out of their collection (at cost, as are board rules) that will help you get started.

I would suggest browsing the boards that Buzz mentioned, and reading past posts on this board. They will help you with information regarding trades.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask away. There are many people on this board who will be happy to help you out.
