My DSis, her 2 daughters (age 4 and 7), my daughter (age 9) and myself are going to WDW in mid-June and are thinking about staying onsite. We all have AP's so will try for an AP discount. We were thinking of getting 2 rooms at Pop (or any AS, Pop is 1st choice), but I see that deluxe resorts have single room AP rates as low as $139 for that time period. It would be cheaper for us to rent one AKL room than 2 at a value, but will there be enough space for 5 of us in a room at AKL? ANy other suggestions? We'd like to keep the room cost to under $150 per night (before tax, of course).

It won't be cheaper because the standard rooms for $139 per night at the AKL will only allow 4 people in the room. To stay with five at the AKL you have to get a deluxe room which runs roughly the same as a room at the Poly, BC/YC, BWI ect. Your cheapest route is to get a room at POR in the Bayou section. There are two double beds with a trundle bed so you can fit there. That being said we are also a family of five. Kids ages 16, 12 and 8 and we feel too crowded staying at POR. We now always opt for rooms. We usually get two rooms at a moderate vs a value, just a personal preference. It is so nice to have two bathrooms and four beds with two TV's. Last summer we got a rate of$74 per room per night at CSR resort. I believe the values were $69 a night. Only you know if there will be too much togetherness in one room for all five of you.

Not positive about AKL, but I know that most rooms at the deluxes will sleep 5 with 2 queen beds and a daybed you could just double check when you call CRO (or I'm sure someone will come post and verify for you too;) ). Have you checked out POR in the AB section? They will sleep 5 with 2 double beds and a trundle bed. Awesome resort in the moderate resort catagory and may be less $$ than 2 rooms at a value :confused3

Best of luck and pixie dust!

Fort Wilderness cabins have an AP rate of 174.00 a night. There's a bedroom with a double bed and bunk beds. There is also a Murphy bed in the living room. With 5 people, you might like the separate bedroom, living room, and kitchen. It's cheaper than a suite and has 500+ sq.ft.-more than any other rooms except suites.Transportation to MK is by boat or bus.We always took the boat. There's a
campfire at night with movies. Kids love it.

Not all rooms at the AKL will automatically sleep 5. I believe you would have to request a Deluxe Pool or Deluxe Savannah room in order to receive a room that would sleep 5 -- two queens and the day bed. And that is certainly more than the standard rate. And unless you have already called, the standard view rooms may already be sold out. As they are the least expensive -- they are usually the ones that are reserved first. But you could get lucky.

I would go with Pop Century -- two rooms -- two bathrooms. And ask for connecting rooms. :flower:
