:wizard: I ran the Marine Corps Marathon in 2005 with a 6 hr finish due to a fall at mile 19 (cut up pretty bad) and had to trot/walk the rest of the way. I was on a 5 hr finish until that time. I am very exited about Disney. :yay: I have a few questions I hope some of you can answer (1) Do they offer any discounts on tickets or room packages (I booked the Swan right now but I can still cancel); (2) Is the Swan a good location to get to the start line and be able to crawl back to? (3) will my hubby be able to find me along the route (at MCM he went back to our room and fell asleep, alas 1st marathon ---- no pics ---- no cheering section --- no nothing until mile 23 when all he could say was hey, your leg is ooozing blood :cool1:

Welcome!

1. Disney Sports travel does offer some packages, but nothing particularly special or well discounted. I think most folks do better waiting for codes or AP rates.

2. I know there have been many folks on here who have stayed at the Swan for the races and loved it. They have the same transportation to and from the Expo and race starts as all the other Disney resorts, so that should be no issue. I like the Epcot resort area for many reasons, but it was great for having the space to run during the days before the race.

3. I know lots of people on here have made plans for their cheering sections (most involve using the monorail) and hopefully they will post on here to give you a better idea of how that has worked.

Hope that helps!

I agree with solo on 1 and 2. Plus, ther are buses very close to teh family meet tents post race. No problem getting back to teh swan.

3. My parents see me at the start & mile 4 (pretty much teh same place outside Epcaot). Then, they monorail to TTC. You can wait there or continue to Main Street. CHeering on MS is awesome. With your pace, dh should eb able to monorail back to GF or Poly and see you on Flridian way. About 12 or 13.

Now, after that, my parents had breakfast at teh GF (just reward for getting up so early to cheer for us), but your dh may be able to hit AK or MGM. My parents just monorialed back to teh finish from there. Now, it's not always relieable, but you can get a tect sent to your dh's cell when you cross teh start, mile 10, half way, mile 20 and teh finish.

Also, the have professional photographers fro pix. They aren't cheap, but they are nice to have.

So, have you joined our training thread yet? ;) Please do!

I have always stayed at BWV as I like the nice cool down walk back through EPCOT. Can stop along the way for a snack or cold beverage at Rose & Crown:)

Can't beat being within walking distance of 2 parks:cool1:
