Hi there!
I have not been to Universal when HHN's are on before and was just wondering if someone could give me a bit of info.
Are the parks open as usual during the day? Are all the rides open as usual? Are the rides open during the HHN evenings?
Any info appreciated.
Thanks

OMG, HHN is SOOO much fun!! :D

The parks are open as usual during the day, check the universal website for the operating schedual.
they do have alot of the rides open during HHN. BUT, if you go without an HHN express pass you will not have time to do the rides. And if you buy a HHN express pass, the rides are included.

You won't notice HHN much during the daytime hours as the decorations are kept to a minimum but after the park closes...they pull out all the stops. The rides that are open at night...not all are sometimes...are included with the Express Pass...as Disneyfreakk said. You should consider getting an EP especially if you are only doing one night...you want to see everything and w/o the EP you may not get to do everything.

If you're considering doing rides during HHN,you won't be able to hit all of the haunted houses if you're only going on night.HHN gets packed like you've never seen packed before, maybe the first thursday in October might not be too bad,but just about every year I've gone by 8pm it's a madhouse, but yeah you gotta go,best Halloween event anywhere!!I never get the Express pass cause I'm cheap but I always go weekdays or sundays,no fridays or saturdays which are the craziest days which are open until 2am.When I go I stay inside the park when it closes for the day and as soon as they let us go usually 15-30 minutes before the official opening time I hit as many houses as possible so when the lines get crazy later I'm not stressing that I won't get all the houses as well as doing the Bill and Ted Show, which is always a must see!!

Thanks for the advise. I have a Frequent Fear ticket so hope to get there a few times. I don't think I will bother with an Express pass, but like the idea of staying in the park when it shuts to get into HHN early. What time does HHN finish on a weekday usually?:yay:

Not all restaurants are open for HHN, but the ones that are should be open the entire length of the event. I've never eaten that late so I don't know for sure. But honestly, you should probably eat before you get there. The restaurants inside the park have limited menus during HHN for some reason.

So now I'm totally frazzled as to how to work my one single day at both parks. I'm going on Halloween and we have to fit both parks in to the day. I couldn't afford to do a fast pass for both "times of day" so I chose to only get the fast pass for the HHN only - portion of the night. Now that I'm finding out some of the rides could be closed during this time, that screws everything up for me, plus I had originally been told by someone that the HHN was in IOA, not Studios! So does anyone have some words of advice as to how I should handle a very long day at both parks to get as much in as possible? Obviously I'll want to start out at IOA since that will close, but is there a plan of attack I should attempt to stick to a timeline - and how do I find out what rides will still be open during HHN.

The reason I got fast pass for HHN also, was because I thought it was at IAO... ugh... I'm a little frazzled... any help appreciated! :scared1:

There's only so much you'll get done in a day. That said, if you're going to HHN, you shouldn't feel the need to spend that time going on rides. They'll still be there come November; the actual HHN attractions won't. Luckily the Express Pass is good for the haunted houses, so you might have some time left for rides by the time you see everything else.

Realistically, any time you plan on attending HHN, you should only expect to do one park during the day. Trying to get through both parks requires an early start, which means you'll be dead tired (no pun intended) during HHN.

Just for the record, the only attractions that will be closed during HHN are the Horror Make-up Show and most things in the KidZone.

It depends on the day you're going to go. On a Thursday or Friday, you should have no problem strolling into the park at 12 and getting everything done at IOA, being done by 3 to hit mummy and MIB and JAWS. I would not try getting on rides at night...the lines are too long and you'll never get all the houses and shows done.

ioa will close at 6 and the studios will close at 5.
be at the studios before 5 and go to the stay and scream area.
you'll be able to do 3 houses without using your ep.
later in the evening, use the ep for repeating some of the houses.

ioa has opened on some nights when hhn is packed.
the only thing that would be open would probably be the hulk, dr doom, spiderman....just the rides in the front section. in the past couple of years, that section of ioa has opened to aleviate the crowding at the studios.

last year all the rides at the studios were open exept for fear factory.
bill and teds adventure will be held there. fear factory went dark around aug 18 this year.
the only rides i did last year were the mummy, jaws and mib.
i do the rides in the daytime and do the houses and scarezones at night for hhn. your ep will allow you one ride per attraction for hhn.

if you want to do both parks, be at ioa at 8:15 in the morning.
do the main coasters if that is your thrill and do highlights of the rest of the park.
leave that park around 12:30 and head over to the studio side.
crowds will not start until about 3ish.
you can accomplish a lot by using the single rider lines for mib, mummy.
use the single rider line at ioa also to expediate your wait in line.

i stay on site and i get to the parks at 8ish in the morning, stay until 4 and go back to my hotel room to change to my csw tshirt. i return to the studios by 4:30 and stay at the park until hhn is over.

it can be a long day, but so well worth it!

Never been and I have a question - do you need a normal park ticket to get into HHH and then the special event ticket to go to HHH or just the HHH special event ticket?

My brother and nephew will more likely arrive after HHH has opened for the night - they have normal park tickets.

What do they do - use the normal park ticket and then the HHH special event ticket? Please advise I'm totally confused.

to enter the HHN event, you need to buy a special hhn ticket.
it is a hard ticket event that requires a separate admission.

if you go during the day time to the parks, you would use the regular park ticket. during HHN periods, the parks area closed down at 5 for the studios and 6 for ioa.
all guests are escorted out of the park unless they have the HHN ticket and go to the stay and scream holding area.
if you do not have the hhn ticket, you would not be let back into the park once hhn begins at 6:30

Does the Stay & Scream area get very packed? :grouphug:

not as packed as the long line that is outside the gates for people waiting to get in.

last year only one of the s & s sections had a crowd.
the others were not.
