Hello All,

New to forum and need some info! We are planning on driving down first week of January, and I have been reading threads on gas , time etc. very helpful! Myself my husband and 4 kids going! We were down Dec.'05 for my son's wish trip and are planning to return to celebrate the end of his chemo treatment! Don't have alot to spend so we are staying off site, got a good deal at seralago on expedia, we know good places to eat off site from last time! Few questions:

1. Has anyone stayed at seralago, and what is it like?
2. Has anyone bought tickets through ticket mania, are they reputable?
3. Magic your way base tickets, if you bought 7 days, can you use 2 days
worth in one day instead getting park hopper?
4. Weather in January, I'm figuring pretty much like December?

I have lots more questions, have answered a few by surfing this thread! Thanks so much in advance for responding!

Hi there!

1.) Nope. Sorry
2.) Yes. Yes.
3.) No - I asked about that too. Creative planning can get you past this 'hurdle' though - lots of Disers can help you out with this.
4.) N/a. Never been in January. This link may be useful.

Welcome to the DIS! Congratulations on the end of chemo! :goodvibes
I've used Ticketmania twice and had no problems whatsoever. They are very reputable.
From what I understand, you CAN'T use 2 days of your base ticket on the same day. If you want to go to a second park, you need the park hopping option. It's well worth the $35 in my humble opinion. We like to do a park, and then maybe skip to another one just for the fireworks etc. Or if the first park is kind of busy, we head somewhere else. However, if you plan carefully, you can easily get away without hopping at all.
We've been in January a couple of times. You have to pack for all scenarios. Once we were there and we wore shorts everyday. Another time, pants the whole time. I would pack some of those cheap stretchie gloves in case it's really cold. You can buy them there - but they cost a lot more than they do here.
Happy planning!

Welcome to DIS.
We were in Disney January 1-8 2006 and found the weather to vary A LOT. We had a couple days where the high was in the 80s and a couple days where the high was in the 50s!!! And everyting in between .So if possible, pack for all all temps!

Regarding the hotel you listed, we have never stayed there but if you go to www.tripadvisor.com and enter the name of the hotel in the search box , it should bring up reviews on it. It looks like a very interesting hotel. For tripadvisor, remember, that for each bad review you see written, there are probably 10 good ones (that people just haven't written).

We have purchased tickets from ticketmania in the past and everything worked out great.

Regarding your son who just finished chemo, if you haven't already, you may want to go over to the disABILITIES board and read the FAQ about the GAC (guest assistance card). I have no idea of your sons situation, but on your WISH trip, you probably had a GAC of some sort. A GAC DOES NOT provide immediate access to rides/attractions, but depending on what type of GAC you receive (if you feel you require one that is) it could make your sons trip easier. Also, if you haven't done so already, you could do a search on DIS for GAC or guest assistance card and read some threads about it.

Happy planning

Hello!

I have stayed at the Seralago. I personally prefer the Lake Buena Vista area. The hotel was OK; people who stay in the suites seem to have a better opinion of the place. As others have said, TripAdvisor can give you a good idea. You could also go over to the Orlando hotels and attractions board as there may be more people over there who have stayed at the Seralago. You could also do a search. The place was formerly the Holiday Inn Main Gate East I believe. If you have any specific questions about the place, please ask away.

Ticketmania has good service.

I would pay the extra and get the Park Hopper.

Good morning! :welcome: come on in and join the party: Soon you will discover why we all know that :disrocks:

Feel free to ask lots of questions. Everyone here is more than happy to offer help. Eventually you will conident enough to give answers to someone else's questions.

Have fun planning -- that is sometimes just as fun as going :cool1:

Thanks, everyone for answering my questions, you are all very helpful! We have booked a suite at the seralago, and from the trip reviews on trip advisor it does sound like the people who stay in the suites have a better time. Because we are a family of six it was just to expensive to book on site, we either need a suite or two rooms and no matter which way I priced it it was still expensive! Best deal tickets looks like ticket mania, which I will get!
