New to DVC - BWV view request not avail.?

Hi there! I have rented points from a great DIS'er for my fall trip.
We are staying at BWV preferred view studio. When the member called today to add my requests (non-smoking, etc...) he requested a Boardwalk view for us (we were married at Sea Breeze Point and would love to have a view of it) but he was told by the CM that that Boardwalk view was sold out.
My questions is (sorry so long winded!) how do they know that? I thought a Boardwalk view was a request, and not a give-in.
Is it possible to maybe waitlist for this? Thank you!

As of about 18 months ago, boardwalk views are a reserved category, not a request. Still the same points as preferred. It was done because it is so popular and this way members will know up front if they are getting it or not. You can waitlist for it.

Thanks! Any chance of a waitlist coming through or do they usually get all snapped up at the 11 month window? We're going the first week of Oct.

Not always taken by 11 month window and some do cancel but if you have been told the BW view is full for period you are going, you should assume chances are low to get it via the wait-list; in fact, you should assume the wait-list already has people in front of you.
