We just purchased our DVC to AKL. We have reservations for a studio and we were wondering if the paper bowls are good enough quality so we can make some scrambled eggs in the microwave in the mornings?

We thinking of just buying some eggs, milk and bread. Should use DVC service or use Gooding's or Wegoshopping?

Thanks for your help.

Yes the bowls ate sturdy enough. If you only want to buy 3 items I'd purchase through DVC. We use Garden Grocer but we purchase quite a bit.

Do NOT use Goodings, much better prices at Super Target, Publix, or Super Walmart over on 192. When staying at AKL, turn right at the light just past the guard house, it will take you to 192 turn right, Publix is on the right/Target is on the left about one mile, and another mile down 192 is Walmart.

The paper bowls are small, but sturdy. They are not cereal bowl size. If those are the only things you want, I would buy at the resort store.

Remember, there are only 4 paper bowls (which would only do 1 or 2 days) for your stay..

But you can ask for more, can't you? I find that the number of supplies varies from resort to resort.

Totally agree with this - eggs were 2.95 a dozen and bread and milk about the same as in the stores at home. Bacon however was a little on the high side. You can go to the member site and pull up the price list to get an idea. You can just go there and purchase rather than having stuff delivered. I imagine they change prices just like all stores do from time to time. You might consider packing a couple of microwavable bowls for you eggs or buy one at the store in Japan. They usually have some items discounted and I got a lovely bowl just the right size for $3.99 this last trip. Used it there for soup and then had a nice souvenir.

You can ask for additional supplies, but I agree with PP that it's helpful to bring along a couple of cereal-sized plastic bowls -- even better is a couple of containers like "glad to go" with lids -- they are handy for leftovers from Park meals, if you're not going to be in a Park for hours after you've eaten (I can rarely eat more than half a meal at a restaurant). Even when I fly, I bring along some basic stuff (like my favorite cereal) -- then what is used up, leaves luggage room to take back the stuff I accumulate while I'm there. If you're not okay with Disney coffee, you might want to bring some of your own. I find that most items in the resort store cost at least twice as much (or more) as in my stores at home (maybe not milk). Do you need a few seasonings/bread spreads? Packable snacks?

Yes, you can ask, but like the extra towel packs, you can be charged. (Or you are "lucky" and were short-changed, so you call to get the proper amount and they hand you a dozen)

I think the official inventory list always says 4, but they may refill with more. Or they always add 4, even if the previous guest(s) did not use them...

Thanks to everyone for your replies. We will probably bring some bowls from home to make scramble eggs in the microwave for breakfast. Where is the AKV store?

Also consider bringing more plasticware. The supply is 4 spoons, forks, knives..

I know the Jambo store is off the front of the lobby (on the bus stop side). It is the merchandise store that has the "goods" back in the store. I've heard Kidani has a store off the lobby, too.

I have never been charged for extra plates, bowls, plastic ware, etc when staying in any studio.

Google "Pasta N More" Microwave Pasta Cooker Set. I got a set of that and took it with me on last 2 trips. I cooked eggs for breakfast, I cooked pasta for dinner, can soup, pasta sauce.... you will love it!
Also, good for breakfast at studios: Eggo, Bagel-fuls, pre-cooked bacons, yogurt, instant oatmeal.
