Hello! I will be staying at Downtown Disney for the FIRST time ever! :cool1: I have reservations at the Hilton. :wave2: A few questions: How close, really, is Hilton from Downtown Disney? How is the bus shuttle service from Hilton to Disney parks? Can I arrange for transportation to Universal from the Hilton? How far of a trip would that be?:drive:

Any other helpful tips would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!!!

The Hilton is just across the street from DTD, it is basically the closest resort of the DTD Resorts to the stores. If things have not changed, this is the first resort to pick up for the shuttle to the theme parks, then it continues on to the others, so you will get a seat on the bus, but it makes the ride the longest going to the parks, but on the bright side, it was also the first to drop off (again, if things haven't changed since I stayed in DTD). Yes, you can arrange for transportation to Universal, you can take a taxi, it would be approx 15+ minutes with traffic. I am not sure of the price as I always have my own car with me. There may be some other arrangements that you can make with the resort too, that I am not sure of, maybe someone else can help you there.

Is the bus the Disney Bus Service or something else? Trying to figure out if I can use the Disney Buses to get around. It's been a long time since I stayed off site!! (I am staying at the Hilton)

There is downtown disney resort bus service from the Hilton to the disney parks. It runs around every 30 minutes.

You can walk across the street to downtown disney and take a Disney bus to a disney resort, but there is no direct service from Downtown Disney to the parks.

For example, if you want to go to a theme park, just take the bus from the hilton. If you want to go to dinner at a disney resort, walk across the street and take the bus. There is also a boat that goes from Downtown Disney to Saratoga Springs, Old Key West and the Port Orleans.

You can ride all these transportation options for free. Have fun!

The bus is great it can get you around almost every where in orlando without a rent a car. It is awesome and can save you a lot of money!

I have stayed at the Hilton once - enjoyed it. It really is about a five minute walk from the Hilton to DTD Marketplace. I thought the Downtown Disney Hotel shuttle was pretty good all things considered - at least better than most off site resorts - not as good at Disney resort transportation. The shuttles do share among the hotels so you may have a few drop offs before you get back to the Hilton.

I stayed at the Hilton for the Night of Joy and there was no Downtown Disney Bus service late back to the hotel. At the Magic Kingdom I was told to walk to the Contemporary and take the Disney bus back to DTD Marketplace. This was around midnight I think and I felt safe walking from DTD back to the Hilton - everything was fine.
