New to Disney Cruise just a quick question

Hi,
Again I am a newbie to posting on the boards so I hope some well traveled people will help me out.I am thinking of taking a Disney Cruise in the near future and I have never been on a Disney ship. As I know all ages love Disney though, I also know how appealing the cruises are to families.The husband and I have no children so my question is as two without children would we still have fun on a Disney Cruise?Any and all opinions welcome.

My DW and DCs have been on 6 DCL trips with 7 & 8 booked. For our 10th Anniversay the DW & Myself took a 4 day cruise by ourselves. We had a blast. Not to mention that DCL has more than adequate adults only sections. This can be proven by the fact that unknowing to us, another family we know were on the same trip. Because they had their kids with them, and stayed in kid specific areas, we did not run into them until the last day of the cruise during disembarkation.
So trust me and go, you will not regret it.

The answer to your question is ABSOLUTELY.

DH and I especially liked the caliber of the entertainment. Fantastic, talented, funny BUT with a family friendly atmosphere - NOT the crude, obscenity laced stuff that passes for entertainment lots of places.

The other thing I like about DCL is that they have ADULTS ONLY spaces that they enforce so the adults can get away to Serenity Bay on Castaway Cay or the Quiet Cove pool on the ship or dine in Palos in an adult only space.

And to top it off, no other cruise line has the Mouse! Mickey and Minnie and the other characters remind us that we're all kids at heart. Besides it's a delight to watch the children interacting with the Characters.

I also think DCL has the most wonderful crew, but then I am slightly prejudiced.

Come to think of it, with I was on a cruise at this very minute.

DH and I are empty nesters and we took our first DCL cruise in November and loved it. There were plenty of activities to do, and more that we never got around to doing. There will be more DCL cruises in our future!

Our tablemates from Great Britain also thought it was the best vacation they could imagine.

DH took me on a surprise Wonder cruise for our 15th wedding anniversary last month. We had been on three other Disney cruises before with DS7, so we were eager to see what it was like as adults only.

We had a blast. For sail away, we iced down champagne in the sink and drank it on our verandah rather than going to the sail away party. We spent a lot of time at Signals bar, near the Quiet Cove (adult only) pool and the Cove Cafe. I was amazed at how peaceful that area is. . . .no kids around at all. We also had late seating, which had far more adults than kids.

Simply put, it was very romantic trip and we definitely did not go kid crazy.

As you can see the consenus you don't have to travel with kids to have a great time on DCL. We have cruised 4 times with our three children, but next week my DW and I sail on the Magic for 7 nights on our own and can't wait. There are a number of things we haven't done because we haven't had time, and there will be a lot more relaxation breaks.

This will be our first cruise. Friends say that the DCL is overrun with out of control kids. We LOVE the Mouse and all Disney. Hope the opinions on these boards are not overly biased. Another day before we can make our own judgement. I'm more worried about seasickness than kids.

Yes! We are in the same 'boat' (bad pun, sorry!) no kids, just us. We loved DCL! It was quiet, romantic, charming - everything I ever wanted in a vacation.

Palo is wonderful, it's a fantasy trip to a very nice restaurant. The bread course is larger than most meals we eat at home. Our waiter was great and had really wonderful recommedations. He ordered our dessert without ever asking what we wanted - three desserts! He brought us everything we wanted and more.

We really enjoyed the Quiet Cove Pool. No kids, no loud music, no pizza begging to be eaten. It was very relaxing.

You should try the REAS package. It was nice to have all of our reservations taken care of before we ever boarded the ship.

The spa was great. DH had never experienced massage prior to the cruise - next trip he wants a week-long pass to the rainforest room.

We did not see any of the shows - too busy doing other things.

We spent about $125 on pictures, without kids do you ever have a professional picture made of the two of you? Here's your chance!

We were in a cat-11 room and thought it was 'just right' for the two of us. It was a first time cruise experience for both of us and we are going again in 2006.

In short, you will love it! We were concerned about monster children and never saw any. Disney does an amazing job keeping the kids busy (and happy!) in the kids clubs, which allows the adults to relax and ENJOY!!!

DW and I have been twice (including a honeymoon cruise) and a third is in the planning stages. We don't have kids, and aren't really "kid" people. But, as has been mentioned before, that's okay. Much respect to Disney for understanding that not just kid-families want to do Disney vacations.

It does, however, help to be in touch with your inner child. For me, there's a moment that defines my vacation. When you get off the plane at the airport, and you see the Disney people there to meet you, and you see what they're wearing and how they're just ... diffferent ... from the rest of the masses hustling through the terminal, you realize that you're in for something different, something unique. It allows me to just sort of disconnect from reality and cares and worries. And THAT's what makes it special.

I'm so with you. One of the things I love about our Disney experiences is the fact that we can let go of the "adult" in us and let the kid come out an play. I like being able to put my grown up thoughts and concerns on hold for a little while and delight in the Magic of Disney. We too get excited when we see those reps in the airport and I practically bounce out of my seat on the bus when I catch my first glimpse of the ship.

chipanddalenuts, the ship is not overrun with kids, but you will see children, just like you would at the mall or at any Disney Theme park. They do a great job with the activities and keeping kids busy. Though not all of the kids participate all of the time. However, you can most certainly enjoy all of the ship, especially the adult only areas. This was our first cruise without kids and while there were plenty of kids around, we never felt over run.

If you or your DH are Disney fanatics you two might be the biggest kids on the ship! It's every thing Disney and there's so much to do or not to do if you want to just relax. Oh, to have an adult conversation (I'm a mother of three young ones) and stand still for more than five minutes w/o being pulled to go some where else. To sit at dinner and just worry about what's on my plate. Oops, I'm starting to vent.... Sorry, back to you, I agree about the adult only areas. I didn't get to check them out, but I hear they're great. You'll have CC key almost to yourselves if you go to the adults only area! The ship's shows are very classy for kids and adults. I guess the only thing about going on a Disney cruise w/o having or being around kids is not minding kids whizzing by you or hearing yelling (b/c of joy) once in a while. I guess what I'm trying to say is I'd definately cruise DCL w/o kids! (Glad my kids can't read yet).

Just have to note, did you see jrclaws countdown for the BMV? I've never seen a count down for that...a first that gave me a chuckle.
