MY husband and I are planning a vacation next year to disney with our family. And I figured I should get to know the ropes (if possible) around the sight so I will know how to buy points when the time comes. I am also here to make some friends. So, if anyone wants to be a friend contact me. How do you go about buying points? Where would I go to do that?

Are you talking about buying Disney Vacation Club Points? If so there is a thread under DVC for renting points so try that!! You will find everything Disney you need to know right here!! You need to take a look at our DVC forums and particlarly the Rent/Trade Boards for information on buying/renting points. They have some specific rules if you want to use that board so make sure you read all the FAQ and Rules threads.
