After over thirty five visits to my "Happy Place", I am going to try the DDP. In the past I have used AP, DDE, Airline Employee Discounts ect. that have kept me from investigating how to get around the system, have my room discount and enjoy DDP. This 11/28 my friend and our two daughters will be staying at POR for some Christmas Season fun. I did not renew my AP in September but my DDE card is still in effect.

Ok, if any of you are still awake (I am long winded), if we eat at Whispering Canyon Cafe and order the all you care to eat skillet, is that our appetizer, meal and dessert or do we still order an appetizer and dessert on top of this. The reason I am asking is because that is a HECK of a lot of food, and although I love the skillet, I would order something else in order to enjoy the nachos and dessert I like. Where would the all you can drink milkshake come into play here? Beverage or dessert?

Also, my friend and her daughter are very health conscious when it comes to breakfast. In other words, using a snack credit for a box of Entemann's donuts wouldn't cut it for them. Do y'all recommend POP for breakfast in the foodcourt and using CS for a later meal. Most of our TS are for between 2-4. I could definitely see my daughter and I using a snack credit (if allowed at the time of our visit of course) for a cereal or bagel and sharing a CS around 11 and then using our two ts at "dinner" and maybe sharing another CS later in the evening.

Does this sound like a plan to any of the experts out there? Would appreciate all comments and assistance at this time.

Thanks for reading!

Eileen

When you order the Skillet at WCC, the salad that comes with it is your appetizer. For dessert, you can choose anything off of the dessert menu. As for the shakes-at least when we were there, they counted as our beverage. :upsidedow

This sounds like a great plan, although I could personally not do 2 CS and a TS meal in one day. Somedays, we would have a "snack" B-fast, a CS lunch and a TS Dinner. Other days, we would have a TS B-fast, "snack" lunch and a CS Dinner. Whatever works for you, have a great adventure! :thumbsup2

I too, do not see me doing a sc breakfast, cs (shared) and full ts as well as another CS (shared). But, I do have a 17 yr old athlete who is always hungry (and burns it off WAYYYYY faster than me). Thanx for the advice, I'm sure we won't go hungry (or broke, my ts alone per person at 1ts restaurants with tip and tax AVERAGE to 50.00 pp , 50's prime time, whispering canyon, chefs de france, coral reef AND our first night we are using our 15$ per room coupon to eat at Planet Hollywood) We are not trying to BEAT the system, we are trying to WORk with the system and not "waste" snack credits on sodas we don't drink.

Thanx again to all!

Hope you enjoy the DDP experience. It worked well for us. We had 5 TS meals: Narcoossee's, Coral Reef lunch and 3 buffets Chef Mickey's breakfast as well s dinner at Boma and Hollywood and Vine for the Fantasmic seating. I would absolutely use the buffets for the athlete. Also many CS meals are huge. There is something called a bounty plate at many CS food courts. At CBR it included: scrambled eggs, slice of french toast, biscuit, potatoes, bacon and sausage and CS breakfast come with two beverages, we chose juice/milk and a bottled water to take to the park. We passed on the bacon and sausage and still had plenty to share. We also got courtesy cups and drank water at our meals in addition to whatever bottled beverage we shared. In the FL heat your body really needs the water and we saved our sweet calories for Goofy treats, ice cream carts, etc.!

Snack credits were spent on ice cream, some bottled drinks in the park, pretzel rods at Goofy's, Entemann's rolls and donuts. We also grabbed yogurt or apple slices with carmel dip for CS desserts. Those made for quick breakfasts or late snacks in the room.

My plan has been to meal-share whenever possible and then use the "saved" credits for breakfast CSs. On some days we'd just do a box of Entenmann's donuts for breakfast.

Keep in mind that meal-sharing doesn't have to leave your teenage boy starving. For example, at a place like Flame Tree you could order a rib meal, which is big enough for two "normal" eaters, but since your son is a big eater you could add on an order of onion rings using a snack credit. The onion rings is a huge serving and would ensure that your son wouldn't walk away hungry. Similarly, most CS restaurants offer a side of fries as a snack credit, so you can order a CS meal to split and just add on some fries for you son.

The previous poster was correct about WCC. I was there a few days ago and it's still no appetizer, but any dessert, with with the skillet. There are lot of different flavors of shakes (vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, orange, cookies&cream, mint, bubble gum, and cotton candy). The shakes are refillable and count as a beverage on the DDP.

I know you mentioned that your friend and her daughter are pretty healthy (as in health food) eaters. I will tell you something I do that helps me with the healthy eating. For everyday that we don't have a breakfast TS planned I pack Weight Watcher muffins or some other healthy breakfast item. I take that to the food court and grab a piece of fruit and fill my resort mug with coffee and that is my breakfast (3 to 4 Weight Watcher points). Then I have that CS for lunch later in the day. Gives me a good healthy start to the day and I don't feel like I have already overeaten on the first meal of the day!
