How do the codes work? I know you have to be a member of AAA to get that discount or an AP holder for that one, but are there any for us unfortunate souls who are neither? If so, do you just tell the CM the code when you make reservations?

There are many kinds of codes, the "unfortunate souls" codes are usually called "general public codes" and, although the discounts may not be as deep sometimes, you don't have to "be" anybody to get them. Keep checking the Disney website, boards like the DIS or sites like www.mousesavers.com for codes for the general public. Mousesavers also has a page that shows historical release dates for codes, which is no guarantee, but shows what has been offered in the past. Codes usually have a limited number of rooms and/or resorts, so you have to jump on them when they come out, and be flexible on your resort choice and dates. :surfweb:

People also get codes emailed or mailed directly to them. No one knows how Disney picks who to send them to, but they seem to be sent to people who have subscribed to every free newsletter Disney offers, by setting up a personal profile on the Disney website with dates of your next planned trip, by ordering the Disney vacation DVD, and to those who either frequent the parks several times a year or only once or twice a year. These are all just suppositions, again, no one really knows. :confused3

I have a question......
I booked the WL standard view back in April for Aug 4-8. I see now there is a general code available. Can I call and apply the discount to my existing reservation ? The code is showing the room to be $140. I paid $215. This sounds too good to be true if I can switch this ? :confused3

Yes. Call and try to have the discount applied.

If rooms are available, they should be able to apply the discount to your reservation.

Thanks Canadian Guy.....
I did call on the 7th and was told they couldn't apply the code because the WL was totally booked.
