New to boards! Akershus Q.

Brand new to chatting on boards! I've got a question and I'm hoping I'm posting in the right spot! We've got a trip planned for 2016, end of Nov - beginning of Dec. Split stay - first time for that too. The one place we wanted to eat breakfast again was Akershus. We ate there for the first time 2 years ago with a little encouragement from travel agent and it ended up being our family's all time favorite! Girly girl 7 year old daughter plus 10 year old son in agreement!!!

So last trip, easy to get an ADR, got the 8ish time slot, even better. This trip, NOTHING available. Can anyone shed any light on this? Yes, we are going during free dining but we were there during that time last trip. Is there ANY glimmer of hope in getting a reservation for breakfast?

First off Welcome to the DIS!!! Lots of friendly folks here to help you
Akershus is likely booked up for 2 reasons. The main reason is that folks are seeing it as a way to get in early to Epcot in anticipation of the new Anna & Elsa meet and greet and the new Frozen Ever After attractions, both opening soon in June. People are talking about wanting to get in with an early ADR to get a head start on the lines.
And you're correct it is also free dining.
Personally with the A & E craze, I think the chance of an ADR opening are pretty slim, but definitely keep trying as folks do cancel

Thank you! I was wondering if it was related to the new frozen ride. We like early only b/c my kids don't sleep in...however, we are really going to eat! Please tell me those people who do get ADR and want to get in line early still eat at the restaurant? They don't skip out and then my precious Akershus sits empty???? At this point, we will go any time for breakfast!!!

Mostly, yes. People who want to see Anna & Elsa tend to like the full line of princesses.

Yes-they will just eat FAST and then go get in line for Royal Sumerhaus or Frozen Ever After in order to beat the Maingate Line that will come at 9:00 AM.

We are trying for the same week as well. But we are trying for ANY time of the day, not just an early breakfast and nothing is available through our whole trip. I understand breakfast being booked, but nothing is available at any time. We've never had a problem getting an ADR there before. I was able to get BOG and Crystal Palace with no problem and had the opportunity to get CRT, but skipped it since we did that last trip.

I had a late start on ADRs for September, and was able to get Akershus for dinner within a day of searching. It has popped up a few times since then too. I'd keep checking.

I saw somewhere on here a theory that they are holding back some reservations until the Candlelight Processional packages are finalized. I sure hope that's the case as I'm trying for a dinner there during the same time frame!

I was able to get an 8am Akershus reservation in September thanks to touringplans.com reservation finder. You have to pay for a membership, but I was already a member so I could use their personalized touring plans. It's worth checking out.

I was able to sign up to use the reservation finder without paying for the membership the other day.

Okay, so there's still hope. Thanks everyone! We don't mind what time we eat as long as it's breakfast! 8am is just an extra perk for us.
