Hello everyone,
My name is Tanya, and I have 2 sons. My oldest son, Colin, has a brain tumor called medulloblastoma. He's currently receiving a 48 week process of chemotherapy.

In February(on the week of his birthday!) we're going to Disney through MAW, and we couldn't be more excited! However, I haven't been there since I was a child, and know so much has changed!

I would love to hear from anyone who's gone to Disney through MAW, or stayed at Give kids the world. Or any input, advice, or must-sees are also appreciated. Thanks so much!

Welcome to disABILITIES. I see you got over here from the Family Board.
I have never been on a MAW trip or stayed at GKTW Village, but everything I have read has said you will have a great time. All your needs will be anticipated and taken care of (even things you didn't know you needed).
I know I already sent you this link to Give Kids the World website, but I'm putting it here for other people who may not have seen it. Here's a whole bunch of pixie dust for a great trip for your whole family.
How old is your son? The is a book called WDW for Kids or something like that. It has reviews of WDW attractions written by kids and pictures. He might enjoy that.
Keep in mind that you can go to First Aid in any of the parks if he needs a little rest. Lying down on one of their cots may help him to "recharge". It's often easier to do a little rest than to go all the way back to your resort.

Tanya, I haven't been to WDW via MAW, but I just wanted to welcome you to the boards. My heart goes out to your sweet son and your whole family. While I haven't had a child fighting cancer, my best friend fought osteogenic sarcoma in grade school. I hope there are others who can share experiences with you. I'm glad your family is getting to take this trip and hope you have a particularly wonderful vacation. Sending pixie dust your way!

Thanks so much for your welcome and your help. Sue-I had no idea they had first aid areas where you can take a rest-that sounds perfect for Colin. I'm sure even a healthy person could use that rest!

We won't be going on any "rough" rides at all-so could you suggest any rides that are somewhat gentle, but lots of fun? I've already been told that Buzz Lightyear is a must-see. Thanks again for the warm welcomes.
