Well I just finished reading the Atkin's book(it is very boring:eek: ) and I have a few questions for all you atkins followers.
1. Can I use the atkins bake mix to make waffles during induction? Eating eggs is getting old! I thought it would be nice to rotate the eggs and waffles.
2. Any good recomendations for salad dressing? I use to use french dressing and was just able to choke down the lettuce(I'm not a big veggie person). However since I started induction(yesterday)I've been eating the required amount however my DH thinks it's very funny to watch me eat salad:rolleyes: .
3. Do any of you take the vitamins(I believe it's #3 atkins) are they worth getting? What about any other vitamins?
4. When can I eat the mock danish? It sounds so good!!
Any other suggestions for surviving the induction? I've got the diet rite and the sf jello anything else you must have?
I've been reading this board for a while and just finally got off my butt and decided to do Atkins:Pinkbounc :bounce: . I need to drop about 20lbs I'd like to have it gone by the end of Oct but I won't hold my breath on it;) .
I'm sure I'll have more ?'s but I've learned so much from these boards thank you.
Thanks.
PS where do I get my Wish clippie??

Everybodies body reacts differently to the Atkin's Diet. I don't think any of those things are approved on the Atkin's induction. I didn't buy any Atkin's products until my 12th week on Atkins. But that is just me.

You can do it.

God bless, best wishes, and encouragement, RaySharpton:)

Thanks for the advice and encouragement. Today is my 3rd day and I feel so tired and drained I know that this is normal but how long does this last?
Any other advice or suggestions?
Thanks

I've been on induction since last Thurs. I was on OWL but I don't think I was doing well -maybe I stopped induction too soon. I always feel tired, lightheaded and cranky the first few days of induction but right now I feel a lot better. I was eating the Atkins Advantage Bars before but I think they are what has stalled my weight loss. I've decided no chocolate at all-I think I'm addicted! I bought the Atkins salad dressing (Poppy seed) and it tastes the same as the sugar kind. I also use Marie's chunky blue cheese dressing(0 carbs). I'm doing the more pure form of induction like the Alex Challenge(you can find out about that here on the WISH board-I don't know how to link it to my post).
Also, you can eat other foods at breakfast so it won't be so dull-this morning I had a scoop of chicken salad on top of salad greens.

Hubby and I have both been on Atkins plan for about 5 weeks now. Total weight loss (23 and 24 pounds).

We don't have eggs every morning...if you check atkins site you will see the atkins morning start bars...they can be used during induction or phase I. There are also muffins that can be used during phase I. I would have to double check the atkins baking mix..but I don't think that can be used during induction.

There are also all sorts of egg recipes you can do. This morning hubby and I had taco omelets...they were outstanding. Some days I just have hard boiled eggs, some days an atkins morning start bar, apple, chocolate chip, blueberry or cinnamon bun, doesn't matter, they are all delicious. I have compared them to other low carb bars with the same flavors...none come close to the great flavor of atkins. We also have some of the atkins advantage bars (only two carbs each) for snacks on days we don't have a morning start bar. They are heavenly...the mocha something or other, excellent if you like a little coffee flavored chocolate. We have tried two other flavors also...and everyone, again is excellent...and doesn't compare to the chocolate ones by other companies.

No, I am not pushing atkins things...I just like my treats to taste good and those really do.

As far as salads/salad dressings go. We started out making all the salad dressings in the atkins cook book. I myself am a hidden valley ranch girl...so I started reading the label and saw that only 2 tablespoons is 2 or less carbs...so no problem. I now enjoy my fistful of salad with a little cheese, a little tomato once in a while, bacon and some hidden valley ranch dressing. Very satisfying.

As far as the no nitrate bacon...we found the best, no nitrate applewood smoked bacon at our local Whole Foods market...it is so delicous...I don't think I will ever by another brand again.

MomE...if you have any other questions about what we do...feel free to email me webray@aol.com...I would be happy to help. I was a junk food junkie before I started atkins...my cravings have all but gone away and I have a really great cookbook also...easy and delicous..done by a nurse...the best I have ever found actually.

Wow thanks for all of the advice and support! I will definately try the morning bars the eggs are getting very old.
Does anyone take the atkins #3 vitamins? Or anyother vitamins? Is it something you feel helps? Any suggestions on what to take and what brands?
I've been doing very good these past few days until tonight when my FIL had my favorite ice cream cake for his b-day:eek: . I just had to have a piece. O'well hopefully tomarrow will be better:cool: .
Thanks for the help and advice.

Nelle, try keeping the Atkins ice cream on hand...it is delicious.

I don't take the Atkins vitamins...I take one a day weight smart (greenish type label) , along with lecithin (couple times a week), ginger (for my labrynthitis), flax seed (daily) and echinecea (daily). I think that is it.

Nelle,

I just noticed that you are from Baraboo...hubby and I grew up in La Crosse. We had to escape to FL though to get away from all that snow shoveling...lol.

Our son is there is Madison with his wife to be and our brand new grandaughter. 5 months old now...and five times her birth weight 2 pounds to 10. Yep, a preemie.

Hi again nelle:wave:
I forgot to tell you about what vitamins I take. I get all my vitamins & supplements at The Vitamin Shoppe www.VitaminShoppe.com . I take the From the Earth Multivitamin, Coral Calcium, Omega 3-6-9(essential oils & fatty acids) and Psyllium Husk w/ Acidophilus - all Vitamin Shoppe brand. The Vitamin Shoppe also sells brand name vitamins, supplements, health & beauty products and Lo-Carb food items like Atkins, Keto ect.. at discount prices.

you are so smart to have escaped the cold Today the high is in the low 70's it was too cold for my dd to finish swimming lessons. I'm glad to hear that your grandaughter is doing so well. Have you come up for a visit yet? Better yet maybe they could come down and take her to DW for her first trip to see mickey:bounce: :Pinkbounc .

MomE@home thanks for the vitamin suggestions I'll definately check out that web site and see what I can find.
Thanks,

I am back on Atkins. Last year I did it and lost 18 pounds pretty quickly. I have gained back about 5 but that is with major cheating. I have found Atkins is one diet that works for me even if I cheat.

Salad dressings - I love ranch and it is very low in carbs. Newman's Own Cesaer is very low in carbs also and tastes really good. I have not been able to find it lately but Hidden Valley Peppercorn Ranch is really good too.

I just found the low sugar Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. They are wonderful with net 3 grams of carbs I believe. I swear if you ate one and didn't know it was low sugar you would not be able to tell. It is nice to have a little something sweet and good to get over those cravings.

If you go to atkins.com and check out their food it has a little box in the corner which tells you which phase it is allowed for. This has helped me with questions.

No carb dressings: "Drew's" brand. They are located in the natural food section of our local Hannafords. Also, in the same section is a smoky marinade by "Annies". It's lo or no carb.

My dh takes the Atkins vitamins and says he feels better when taking the #3 and the essential oils.

I have found the Walden Farms brand of condiments & dressings are very good & they are 0 carb, 0 sugar, 0 calorie, 0 fat. They make about 5 or 6 kinds of dressing, ketchup, yummy bbq sauce & a chocolate sauce. I'd be careful with the regular brands of french dressing because it think it has lots of sugar. I'm not certain on that because I'm a ranch girl too. if sugar is near the beginning of the ingredient list on the back of your french dressing bottle, then it has lots of it.

Also, carbsense makes a zero carb bake mix that I have found to be better than atkins. I was even able to make a batter to make fried chicken tenders with it. Being it is not an atkins product, I'm not sure if you can incorporate it into induction. heres their website, they make lots of other good products too. I eat their Country Spice hot cereal practically every morning at work (I add 2 packets of splenda to each serving). They also have pancake & muffin mixes, but I'm sure that is to be used after your 2 week induction.
http://carbsense.com/

I just read the back of my Atkins blueberry miffin mix & it said not to use until after induction. Her'es what it says on atkins website about the muffin mixes:
Make breads or muffins with these great mixes! These mixes are quick and easy to make, with simple instructions listed on the back of the new, conveniently packaged, one-time use pouch.

Our new Deluxe flavors offer a richer taste for those who can afford the extra carbs. Our Deluxe line includes our Corn and Blueberry flavors, both contain 8g Net Carbs per serving and are NOT appropriate for Induction.

For all flavors*, each pouch makes approximately 12 servings. One muffin equals one serving.

*Note: Chocolate Chocolate Chip makes 8 servings and is also NOT appropriate for Induction.

So it looks like the lemon poppy seed, orange cranberry & banana nut are all ok during induction so maybe add a muffin to your breakfast menu & it will help in the variety

Hi Nelle, another WISHer from WI yahoo! I just started Atkins recently also and have lost about 6 pounds so far and thats even with cheating when we went up to northern WI to visit my sister for a few days and I had a few donuts. I too would like to lose a total of about 20 pounds and feel like I'm off to a good start because I usually gain weight in the summer because of all the festivals, fairs and picnics we like to go but this summer I'm actually losing and I'm not hungry doing it! I hope you are feeling better on induction now. The first 3 or 4 days were hard for me too, I had some pretty bad headaches.

For breakfast DD and I have been experimenting with things because we were getting tired of boiled and scrambeled eggs all the time too. Some mornings I'll put some sliced pepperoni on a plate and microwave it for 30 seconds and then put some shredded cheese on it and microwave for another 20 seconds. We also like shaved baked ham from the deli warmed up and melt cheese on top of that too. One thing that I have started doing different with eggs that I really like is making a "muffinless egg mcmuffin". I warm up some Canadian bacon or ham and make eggs overeasy and put on top of the bacon and then put cheese on top. Very yummy! Can you tell we like cheese, afterall we live in WI LOL.

To make your salads more enjoyable you could try adding things like ham, chicken or turkey, a chopped hard boiled egg and again cheese of course LOL. I have found that we really like the Maries salad dressings also, especially the ceasar dressing.

Good luck!

Cheryl:bounce:
