Just got in from work and found I had another email from the reporter - bless his soul..
He's sending me an actual copy of the article that his newspaper ran on November 8th (not the alleged "cut & paste" article of the 7th) and was also able to provide me with the names and telephone numbers of the Medical Examiner for the county in which she died as well as the Investigator that works out of the ME's office.. I don't imagine anyone will be available to talk to me tomorrow - with it being a holiday - but I'll try on Friday - just in case someone is there..
He's continuing to dig - but is trying to keep it very low profile since learning that "he" does in fact have a member of his family on the Battle Creek PD.. He found it rather interesting that the first time I called the PD out there they couldn't "find" anything and sent me on a wild goose chase to the Springfield PD.. Yet when I called back - and got someone different on the phone - she just typed the name into the computer and BINGO - there it was...
Once I receive the police report and the death certificate, I'll contact our local PD if I still have any suspicions.. As it stands now, I really have nothing to give them that would look like anything more than a distraught family member who can't accept the fact that her long-lost sister committed suicide.. Although the emails are filled with contradictory statements, they're worded in a "sugar-wouldn't-melt-in-his-mouth" manner that makes him "appear" totally sincere.. Come to think of it, I just recalled a conversation I had with my sister not long after she married him in which she said, "He's the best salesman in the world.. He could sell anyone - anything - for any price - and they would be thrilled to have gotten it - even if they paid ten times what it was worth..." Too bad he sold himself to her..
Meanwhile, my older sister (the one out in the southwest) seems to recall receiving something from my nieces school a few years back - when they were having a magazine drive - and she's tearing through boxes like crazy trying to find it.. We don't know if she would still be in the same school district, but it would be a start..
Oddly enough, I'm not afraid of this slime ball.. I don't care that he has my address - don't care that he has my phone number - and quite frankly, I would
love it if he were to show up on my doorstep..

While my sister was very meek and mild mannered (she had once considered becoming a nun and spent 8 years in a convent before deciding at the very last minute not to take her final vows and instead went into the military and became a nurse), it's not a trait that runs in the family.. Of course he doesn't
realize that because we're all playing along with his little game.. Sweet as can be - and so very grateful for every smidgen of information..

(Yeah - right!)
The only thing I'm still stumped on is his "angle".. There's no estate to be had - no money to be had - so I just don't get it.. However, I
do think there may have been money involved with her death (lawsuits against the hospital, doctor, the railroad, etc.) and
that would have been an excellent reason for him to withold information from us until now.. But I wonder why he even bothered at all????
That's something that may take months - or years - to figure out..
