Well, I have had my new Teva's for about a week now (love them!!!) and have been wearing them as much as possible to get ready for my Disney trip next week.

Today I wore them on a 1.5 mile walk (without socks). They were very comfortable for me, but when i got home I noticed the bottom of my foot hurting a bit and noticed that a small blister is beginning to form.

What do I do now? I really wanted to wear these to Disney next week. Do I keep wearing them and try to get a callus where the blister is? Or do I stop wearing them to prevent the blister from getting worse?

I can't return them now that I have worn them so much, I just need to figure out how to best get them ready for Disney next week.

Any suggestions?

I can relate since the same thing is happening to me. Bought teva's last week to wear to DL next week and started out great but then a blister. I am thinking I am going to have to wear socks with them. I feel like my grandmother when I wear socks with sandals but after my last disney/blister nightmare, I'll do anything to avoid it! I walked 4 miles with the socks on today and no problems! I did let the blister heal up for a couple of days before I tried them again. I also ordered some anti blister product I read about on this website and am having it fed ex'd to get it by next Friday. Good luck!

"Bandaids" brand has a blister product that worked great for dd in April. Its mixed in with the bandaids but its bigger and more flexible, has some type of "product" on the pad and worked wonders on blister in one day. We used them the rest of the week just in case but she was fine.

Good luck.

Try some moleskin. Definitely bring some to WDW with you, too. Either precut it, or bring BLUNT scissors to cut it there.

As comfortable as my Teva's are for everyday use, I just don't think I could wear them at WDW. I don't know how everyone does it. I have to use moleskin even with good socks and walking shoes. Go figure. You might want to have an alternative available if the Teva's don't work out.

I'm with Lora -- definitely take another pair (or two) of shoes along. I can't wear the same shoes every day at WDW under the best of circumstances. I alternate between my Tevas (especially on days I might get wet) and my good walking shoes.

Slap on the german tourist mentality and wear the socks! Its great to fold them into your fanny pac when you come to the wet rides and you'll still find them plenty comfortable w/o socks during the times you want to go that way. Some Tevas are more comfortable than others, though. Its nice to have a good pair of sneakers to rotate into as well.

I'm sorry you're having this trouble. I'd recommend socks or a pair of sneakers that you wear often. Alternating is a great idea.

For others thinking of getting Teva's. They are great, but with any footwear. You need more than a couple of weeks to break them and especially your feet in. I walk miles a day and I usually don't have trouble breaking in new shoes. However, most folks don't walk more than 2-4 miles in a day and their feet simply aren't prepared for several days of long hikes that they'll get at Disney. Two weeks for break in isn't going to cut it. IMHO.

I just got back from a 7 daay trip to WDW and wore my Tevas (Pretty Ruggeds) all day - everyday!!! I brought a pair of athletic shoes (Rykas) and some Coolmax socks to change into periodically, but I never needed to. I did break them in break them in for about a month or so before we left, though. I bought a second pair of Tevas (different color!) that came about aa week or so before we were to leave for our trip, but I realized before we left that I needed more time to break the second pair in - so the new pair stayed home!!!

Maybe you just need more break-in time.? I did allow my feet to rest from them more frequently in the beginning.

Hope all this helps - aand good luck with your shoe predicament!!! That is most definitely an important issue when touring The World!!!!

I just bought Pretty Rugged but I bought the leather ones. They haven't come yet...should be tomorrow.

I'm glad to hear you had good luck with them! Are your nylon? I tempted to buy a nylon pair too for the rainy days. They say the leather is waterproof but I can't be walking in deep puddles!!

Thanks for sharing!

Yes, mine are nylon. I love them. I love the look of the leather as well. Please let me know how they work out for you!!

We live on the MS Gulf Coast, and there is sand and water all around - lots of beaching and boating - so I thought the nylon ones would be great to start with.

I buy a sheet of mole skin at the drug store and cut out pieces that cover the area that is getting blisters or rubbing. Attach the mole skin to the area of skin and it works great. Mole skin is like a piece of felt with a peeloff back that is sticky.
