Let me begin by telling you my current stove is a Magic Chef gas stove bought 5/92. Several months ago we replaced the ignitor. For about the past 6 months we OCCASIONALLY smell gas, when no burners or the oven is on. Walk by it and you may catch a whiff. Over the weekend I opened the oven and the springs snapped. YOu now have to hold the door or it will drop down to its final position. DH said "that's it. Go get a new stove." So, I have been shopping around. Checking Sears, Lowes, Best Buy. I really like the Maytag Gemini. It has the double oven feature...but also carries a $1300 price tag. I also found a Fridgidaire at BB for $750. It has a simmer burner. If anyone has that, please explain. I have no use for that broiler drawer, so I definately want the storage drawer instead. If you have recently bought a new gas stove, please tell me what brand and what you like about it. TIA...

I have the Maytag Gemini and I love it!!:cheer2: It is rather pricey but I love having the 2 ovens. I usually use the smaller top oven and it heats up really fast. My stovetop is the glass flat top electric and it also has a warmer burner. Comes in handy when I'm making Christmas dinner. Good luck with your decision.

I like the idea of being able to cook 2 items at 2 different temps at the same time. I am not sure I would use it all the time. At least if you are baking a cake, you don't need to heat up the big oven. What is the largest pan you can fit in the upper oven? Will the lower oven accomodate a big roasting pan?

A simmer burner only keeps a very low flame, to keep something warm or to slow cook. We also have a high burner that boils up water nice and quickly.
