Is it true the new Star War Hotel is going to be $1000.00 a night? I wonder if we will be able to use DVC points? Please respond if anyone has any knowledge . Thank You

Virtually nothing has been announced other than they are building it.

It won't be DVC. It might have a Disney Collection link, but I would expect if it does it will be like the rest of the Disney Collection, and generally not a great use of points.

The sort of experience they are building is not a timeshare experience.

It was announced to be a boutique hotel. Sometimes those hotels are pretty expensive. And if it really will be an immersive experience then why leave the resort? My DBIL hates Disney but loves Star Wars he would think it was worth if the hotel was like a WestWorld type experience, fully immersive into Star Wars. Me, although I am a Star Wars fan, I am not sure I would care to wear special Star Wars clothing and have to pretend we are in space. It will be interesting to see what Disney comes up with.

If we can use points there, it'll be an astronomical amount, like a cruise or an ABD trip. It's not a hotel in the traditional sense, more mini-theme-park-with-your-own-bedroom :) You're paying for an immersive experience that includes meals and a costume, and your own personal storyline.

I predict a relatively small number of rooms, sky-high prices, and a lot of difficulty getting a reservation.

I have heard that you will only be able to book two nights there, because it is so immersive, and the demand will be so high that they want more people to be able to have the experience. There will be a lot of split stays, but it might make it easier to swallow $1000 per night if it is only for 2 nights.

I'm guessing that it's two nights because that's how long the storyline will last.

I've seen that rumor but it's just an invented rumor. I can't believe they'd restrict the number of nights someone could book or anything like that. And $1000/night is a little excessive. I can see $499 or $599, but $1000 is pushing it even by today's "boutique" standards.

Then again, I once thought $55 for a one-day park pass and $12.95 for the Cape May dinner buffet were pretty excessive, so I've certainly been wrong before in this area!

My impression is that it will be all inclusive, similar to a cruise. You are not paying for just the room.

Oh, I don't think they'll be restricting the number of nights. Just that it'll be sold as a two-night "experience". Think of a cruise. You don't book that by the night, you buy a 3-night cruise, or a four-night cruise. No one will stop you from booking it again and again, if you want to and you've got the bucks.

I could easily see them offering guests a number of storylines to choose from. I used to play the Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO. You could choose to play as either a member of the Galactic Republic, or the Sith Empire. Within that, you chose a character. A Jedi Knight, for example, or a Bounty Hunter. I think there were something like 10 different character types, and each of those types had a whole storyline that played out as you progressed through the game. My friends and I played through the whole game several times, because we wanted to experience all of the stories. You got even more variation in the game because you could make light side or dark side choices as you played, so you could end up being a Jedi Knight that was drawn to the dark side, or a Sith Warrior that was becoming "good." The storyline evolved as you made these choices.

I'm sure Disney would keep it simple, at least to start, but perhaps they could offer guests a choice of "playing" as a Jedi, or a Sith. Two different stories. And a reason to come back for another stay.

I thought I read that it would have to be a booking of a minimum of two nights.

I also heard minimum. Basically, minimum time to get enough storyline to be "true" for the experience is 2 nights, and it will be all-inclusive.

Imagine a possible schedule that includes meals being something like:
  • Day 1
    • Arrival
    • Activities @ Resort
    • Evening Dining with Entertainment @ Resort
  • Day 2
    • Breakfast Buffet @ Resort
    • Travel to Star Wars Galaxy Edge (with Anytime Fastpasses)
    • Lunch @ Star Wars Galaxy Edge
    • Activities @ Resort
    • Evening Dining with Entertainment @ Resort
  • Day 3
    • Breakfast Buffet @ Resort
    • Departure
Everyone staying at the resort would arrive on the same day just like a cruise.

I am guessing that the hotel will be adjacent (or just outside the fence) of Galaxy's Edge so that the immersive experience will easily flow between GE and the Hotel.

You are not buying only the hotel room, but the experience as well, including actors that will involve you in live interactions and possible hidden shows to uncover playing.
Tickets for the Harry Potter play at the West End sell for £250 at the box office, which is $330. It's wonderful show, but it's still "just" 5 hours. Bring that to 24 hours of entertainment, Disney inflated concierge deluxe pricing, meals and an unique experience you cannot have anywhere else and $1000 won't look exagerated anymore. I hope it'll be only $1000.

They tried something similar (live action roleplay) at Disneyland in the park, but it was underwelming: potentially a great idea but not really much fun. I guess they've learnt a lot from that experiment.

Standard rooms at Deluxe properties are $500-700+ rack many/most seasons.

Now, add in an immersion experience (no park tickets required) with included food, and your own storyline.

It's very reasonable to think the room alone starts at $700, plus a per-person upcharge relative to everything else, and a two night minimum (for the storyline; if you cannot check in until 4 and check out is at 11, one night provides really limited immersion, particularly for kids who may not be up for an Imperial Raid at 3AM).

I also think you’re looking at around $1000 per person per night. Lucky for me I’m probably the only one in my family that is in love with the idea so that pill will be a little easier to swallow. I’ve got some friends looking to go too so I won’t be in it alone. I’m starting a special savings account just for this trip next paycheck. I can’t wait to hear all the details as they are released.
