New Ship?

hey everybody-
I heard a while ago that they were adding another ship to the DCL fleet. Has anybody else heard about this and do you have any info on it. Thanks

Has been rumored for a long time. Basically ship design has been done, but no ship being built or contracted to be built.

Bottom line, if they order it today, it will be 3 or 4 years before it goes into service.

really that far away huh? for some reason i thought they had already started building it and it would be ready by next year. o well at least i have something to look forward to. thanks guys

The company line is that they're waiting for the dollar to recover vs. the euro, since the ship will most likely be built in Europe (most cruise ships are built in Italy or Germany, some in France and Finland).

There is a lot of speculation that DCL will announce an agreement to build a new ship on July 17, in conjunction with Disneyland's 50th anniversary. Until that actually happens it remains just speculation.

Assuming there is an agreement in place this summer and construction begins shortly afterward, a ship could be in service by summer of 2007. I think tvguy's estimate of 3 or 4 years is more realistic, though. I would be very surprised if a third DCL ship (newly built) is in service prior to 2008.
