New Rumors

Another rumor that is now going around is that the Who Wants to be a Millionaire show is closing (as it did in Disneyland) and that the Narnia attraction (which is rumored) may go in there.

Gosh, we hope so. DW and myself really dislike both the TV show AND the WDW version. It would be nice to see something new in that space......Narnia would be good.

Midway Mania, working title for a new attraction in MGM for 2008... This will be the family style ride that was discussed... Rumors of course, but the possibility is raised for this ride... Al's Barn would be the entrance, as of now... Unless that changes as well....

Disney doesn't want to build "one off" rides anymore - notice that The Living Seas is getting the show effects from Disneyland's 'Nemo Submarine Voyage'. If the new shoot'em up is planned for DCA, you can be sure they're put it somewhere in WDW as well. Spread the costs, spread the marketing...

OK,Midway Mania will not be the name for the MGM attraction, but the ride that is going into DCA will be also going into MGM...

Regarding the attraction, we dont know. However, Iger has been mentioning how he wants something with Narnia to be in WDW on a larger scale.

Which is why it makes sense to convert the oft-rumored "Beastly Kingdom" into Narnia, its own land at DAK.

As long as Living Seas is being mentioned here, do we know if the Sea Cabs are going to be part of the overall re-do for sure, or was that another "possible " rumor?

Weren't they being called sea shells now??? Maybe they are being themed to a sea shell?? I dunno.. Anyone have any more info?

Well, the accounteneers have the power to kill anything, but all signs point to the seacab's return. It's a cheap way to reproduce the NNew sub ride.

Well if they are going to build a Monsters Inc ride in WDW, hopefully they will learn from the DL one. It is very boring and only the last character is fully animitronic, while the rest look like statutes that rock back and forth.

Learn what. That it is hugely successful.

It may be, we'll find out a little further down the road when more of the guests are repeats rather than first-tmers. It may be that folks are desperate for quality attractions in a park filled with Jumpin' Jellyfish, chairswings, a ferris wheel, a non-spinning wild mouse, a carnival "mega-drop" ride, mini bumper cars, a chew-chew train, tortilla making "attractions", and the like. They may be flocking to a respite away from that junk.

Or, it may be a high quality attraction with lasting long-term appeal. We'll find out in the long run.

All information coming out now says that this will not be the same as the DCA version, but more like Crush at the Living Seas, which is also rather sucessful

All Aboard, how dare you imply that the Chew Chew train isn't the most magically magical attraction in the history of Disney. From the grotesque Watermelon smell to the plastic seatbelt, it oozes Disney magic. Also, if extremely intoxicated it can be a riot.

On a more serious note, If you understood the first thing about DCA's attendence patterns, you'd know that Monster's attendence numbers don't relate to the quality of the attraction, but rather, the lack of quality in the rest of the place combined with a lot of free ticket holders looking for something to do.

I recommend reading the Al Lutz article on it.

Yes, I've heard this, too [about new MInc. show]. "Crush" is clever and appeals to all age groups. It would be good marketing sense to build a ride that has wide appeal.

Besides, who wouldn't get a laugh out of a conversation with "Roz"!!

Despite it's name, Tomorrowland isn't about tomorrow, and it never really has been.

It think it used to be, with Carousel of Progress, the Wed-way people mover, Space Mountain, etc. Walt Disney (the man not the company) was very invested in what the future will bring us. The original EPCOT idea was his most stellar example of this. I think when he died, a lot of his vision of what WDW would be died with him. IMHO, we are lucky that enough of his vision remained for us to have an incredible place to visit.

Can we assume you mean Carousel of Progress, and the Wed Way people mover?

Waited in line 45 minuts for Monster's Inc at DL in March 2006 and it was not worth it. Very boring for adults and chidren.

The biggest problem with Monster's INC is that it is in DCA not DL. DCA is a horrible little park. Visited it for the first time last week and had a miserable time. I visit a lot of theme parks and this was tied with the worst theme park experience ever.

Park was at capacity but have the food service places were closed. The ones that were open were doing a horrible job. Placed an order at one and then went to pick up our food. It took 22 minutes (this is AFTER we placed our order) to get a tray of cold dry burgers. I have on a few occasion had food as bad at other theme parks, but never had to wait so long to get it. And we had similar experiences at each food place we visited at DCA.

Rides had horrible lines but the staff was sending ride vehicles out half empty, they didn't seem to know how to keep the lines moving. Line jumping was everywhere and the park staff was ignoring it, or in some cases aiding it (dropping chains so that large family groups could join up with the one member who had cut ahead in line five minutes earlier).

I felt it was terribly managed, the staff was untrained, I saw lots of staff standing around not sure what to do. (I will not use the term Cast Member, as the level of performance I witnessed doesn't deserve the title).

I didn't think that that attractions were all that bad. California Screaming was a fun ride and the Alladin show was amazing. But the management of the park lead to long longs, bad service etc. which tended to make the crowd a bit nasty.

I hadn't been to DL in years and I was horrified, I thought that they had wrecked Disneyland. We got fedup with DCA and just wanted to get out of there, we went over to DL and it was as good as ever. At DL they have Cast Members, folks who know there job and are well managed. Food we fast, efficient and delicious. CMs monitored lines to keep line jumping to a minimum, lines were flowing smoothing and the crowd was generally having a good time. It was a world of difference.

Fixed it with edit.

Yes you can assume that is what I meant. Additionally, one can learn from me that you should not post when tired from work.

But the point remains the same.
