I mentioned this in my live trip report but I think it merits its own thread.

I checked in to the Fort this past Tuesday leaving Sunday. On Wednesday I stopped in the Settlement Trading Post to complain about no FW merchandise. I had done the same thing that same day at the Meadow TP and got the name/address of the VP over the Wilderness Region (lodge plus fort) to right a letter to about how we want our fort merchandise back.

Anyway a CM lady working the Settlement TP cut me off mid sentence and said FWMerchandise was "coming back within the year". This was no summer intern CM, she looked like and talked like an experienced retail CM. She said managers had gotten the message that campers love their tire covers, welcome mats, and other fort gear.

TIFWIW. I hope she is telling the truth. I'm still gonna write my letter to the VP.

I did not verify this rumor with any bus drivers, lifeguards, Trails End hostesses, or Chip & Dale. So we'll wait and see.

So you verified it with a person that cleans the sites at least, right? I would never post a rumor unless a bus driver or person that cleans the sites told me it was good info.

I hope this is ture i'm tired of all my New stuff saying Walt Disney World/ Disney Land on it

The last thing we got was a fort tag with the gang about 15 years ago. Think we are ready for some up dated stuff. Will be there this November.

I only believe the garbage man.

and the fishing guides,,of course. :goodvibes

The last time we were there, I met up with a guy within WDW management who oversees FW and we got to talking and he told me the plans of the merchandise return and some of those plans, aswell, he told me a little, very little details, but there are some major plans for the land between the Fort and WL.... The interesting this, being I was skeptical, was we have a mutual friend in one of the Senators from our state of Alabama, so I had to believe him from there on.... I can not wait to see it and see the plans for the area when they are released....

There is new merchandise at the Fort. I didn't get him in the picture very well, but on the right is a bear puppet from Disney's California Adventure. These other little guys are also new since we were there in February.

Granted you may not see folks carrying around their bear puppet, but I don't see these items around the campground like I did/do FW license plates, shirts, caps, etc. Wilderness Lodge still has a lot of resort specific merchandise. I don't know about the other resorts. We know there is a demand for it. Let's hope!

Good, i always make it a point to swing in and complain to a manager about the lack of resort stuff. Do that same at the Contemporary and Poly.... I know i use to spend a couple hundred each trip on "stuff" and since they did this i haven't spend a dime. So they are losing money from me and many others i would assume. Absolutely stupid move...

I love the floor mat that I got for my entry. I hope they bring more merchandise.

I traded my camper last fall and along with it was my Fort Decal. I hope they have them when we go back in June.

beagles,

Well, let me put it this way. The two CM standing there while the 3rd CM told me about the return did not contradict her so I would take that as a silent confirmation of sorts.

Mikey,

I bet Mama doesn't even KNOW she wants a Fort tire cover, does she? :lmao:

I was told the same thing by a CM in February. I have a FW Mickey Mouse jacket from 2006 that need replacing.

You made a huge mistake here Ed. You know nothing is for sure until it comes from at least two bus drivers and one lifeguard. Come on man do some homework. LOL :lmao:

Hi all,

I too talked to the merchandise manager for the POLY on my last Disney cruise over Thanksgiving and she said even back then that FW's were the ones making the biggest noise about not having our resort specific merchandise and she said that she felt they would be bringing it back. I was glad to hear that as I told her my FW cup was starting to drip when I drunk out of it. She just laughed and said keep complaining it's working cause I have heard about ya'll merchandise request all the way over at my resort.

I hope it doesn't take a whole year for them to bring this stuff back to the Trading Post though. :(

My sweatshirts need replacing and I would certainly like to see the blankets return. Anything else would be great too. We are coming to The Fort in September and will have our 4 month old granddaughter with us. It would be great to get her something that is just from The Fort for her to always have. We did that the first time we took our kids and they still have the stuff.
