As reported in Mouseears:

"On June 14, the California Grill began a new check-in procedure for their dining guests. Guests will now check in at a podium located on the second floor of the Contemporary Resort.

A Cast Member will then escort guests with Priority Seating, or those guests wishing to enjoy the California Grill lounge, to an elevator reserved only for California Grill diners."

Hopefully this will help guests, who have PS, to view "Wishes" without being cramped by the "gate crashers" on the verrandha.

Yipee!!!

I've never eaten at CG. Just curious, what are the "gate crashers" mentioned here? Are these people with no PS who just show up trying to get a table? Are they folks who really just want to see the fireworks, but have no intention of dining?

Somewhere I saw photos of an observation deck at the Contemporary. Is that still available for use?

Just curious...

I believe the observation deck is no longer open to non-diners. There were a lot of people that went up there just for the fireworks and the people that ate dinner there had no way to see the fireworks. But, my info could be wrong. Have to say that if that is the case, I certainly don't have a problem with it. Those that paid to eat there should be able to see. That's part of the allure of CG.

You have to walk through the restaurant to get to the observation deck. I can see where it would disturb guests dining. Plus people dining have the option to go out on the deck to watch the fireworks.

I believe they setup a different observation on the same level as Chef Mickey's (4?).

Actually there are 4 decks laid out in an "H" pattern. The CG would be the cross bar. You could get to one of the decks without actually going through the restaurant. It was accessible from a door near the rest rooms.

It has always been there it was just that most people preferred the one on the 15th floor. Go down where the stores are and just walk through one of the doors.
