The GCH, DLH and PPH have now got the new all in one room key. There is now longer the charge slip. so all you need is the room key for MM. We just at the GCH.:thumbsup2

I am strangely excited by this! That will be very convenient! I will be at PPH in two weeks and will get one. What I wonder is: 1)Is the picture on the key the same one of Mickey holding the child's hand, or is it different?; and 2) Do you still get TWO copies of the key/card when you check in? Not that I don't trust my friends, but I always get two keys when I am there and give the second one to my friend, and I don't know if I necessarily want someone else running around with a card that is tied into MY debit card information, just in case she lost it and someone else got hold of it or something!; 3) Do we still get to keep them as souvenirs?

We got 5 card keys but my DD3 got a key that did not have the credit/debit card attached to it.:rotfl: I think you get a card for everyone that is registered to the room.

If you do get two cards, I think you can make sure one of them does not have charging privileges - that's what I usually do for my son when we're on vacation. NO WAY do I want my 12-year-old shopaholic having charging privileges :scared1:

I have heard that you should keep all hotel key cards - whether you want a souvenir or not. They have your credit/debit info on there and there are ways that people can scam that info if it's not erased right away by the hotel.

We just stayed at GCH and here's our experience:
1) No, not same picture. Blue "Key to the Magic Card" with Mickey, Your name and account charging number (if you have charging priveledges - dont have to give it to everyone in room). Also indicates info like "DVC Member"

2) Get one copy of card for each person in room - even young kids. Can get cards without charging priveledges.

3) Yes, you get to keep them as souvenirs.

Yeah, it is a good idea to just keep one with charging privileges, because even if the 12-year-old shopaholic was on his best behavior and just kept the charging card for an 'emergency' (whatever that may be at DLR!), still, it could be easy to lose one or drop it on the ground and then, voila! A total stranger can charge things to your room card! I don't want my friend to think that I don't trust her because I know she wouldn't be charging anything to it if we spilt up to do our own thing in the parks, but you never know what mishaps can occur and suddenly the card ends up in someone else'e hands!

Cool! Great! Thanks so much for the info!

Very cool! I know those charge slips were always a wrinkled up mess by the end of our stay (we only ever used them for MM).

Deal is, you have to show ID to use your Key to the Magic card. Kind of a pain, but in the end good, to make sure that others can't use it if you lose it.

Yes, you are right - kind of a pain to have to drag out the ID and room key (and also the AP if you are using that for a discount or something and then charging it to the room), but better to be safe than sorry! I am going to have to bring a separate card holder JUST to stash all of the cards/tickets I will need for DLR in one handy place!

Jennifer: do you mean you had to use i.d. for MM or to charge something?

I mean to charge something. We needed to carry Key to Magic card, APs and ID. I also had my DVC card, but I guess I didn't need that.

FYI: This "new" room-charge key was implemented back in late August this year (I was there then and used it).

I'm excited about this! I wonder why it took so long to bring it here from WDW? :confused3

Ok--not to be too detailed, but did each person have to show the key card for MM or is it like it used to be--that it is the person holding the card plus 5 people who are admitted?

They did not have the new keys when we were at PP Aug 11-18. I was so confused, because we are used to WDW room keys.

good question cherie....dont they do it like that at wdw??? it sounds to me like they are more and more trying to have unity amongst the different parks which is very good because it stinks how one park does this and one does that...ah its confusing:scared:
