Hi Gang

We stayed at the contemporary in 2000 and personally I love the resort but I'm not big on theming in the rooms. We stayed in the north wing and at that time the resort seemed worn down and ready for a refurbishment. Anyway... I've seen pictures of the new rooms and they look really good compared to what's there now. Do you think the prices will go up for the Contemporary after the whole resort is done?

Just wondering.
Andy

yes, look at the 2006 rates. Also if you want a tower room with a magic kingdom view you will have to pay extra.

Hi, where did you see the pictures of the new rooms?

Thanks,
Janice

Just stayed there this past weekend for two nights. Booked a regular wing room and was upgraded to club level on the 12th floor. The rooms look just like the photos in the link above. Our room had just been totally refurbished. Personally I did not like the decor but others may. They were also working on one of the wings as it looked to be totally gutted.

Wow - I didn't even think they started on the 12th floor yet! I know they are finished with the 10th floor renovations and heard that they just started on the 12th floor!

I love the new rooms. I will definately be booking a stay after they are all complete. DH esp. loves them & he's not a huge WDW like I am. I take full advantage of anything he loves at WDW.

Boy, I wish I was that lucky. I'd love to be comped to the 12th floor. Right now I'm just hoping they'll fill my request for a room on the 10th facing MK. Any idea why you got this? With construction going on in the wing.. short of rooms out there??

I'll be there in 13 days. We're staying concierge, so I'll be sure to let you guys know what's up when we get back.

We were just on the 12th floor last week. They were getting ready to start the 12th floor soon. during our stay the 10th floor was being worked on , and they started work on the 9th floor. We were in a MK view room, and it hadn't been rehabbed yet. My next trip won't be for over a year, so i'm hoping to get in one of the new rooms then :)

I was told that the rooms were just refurbed by the person at check-in. Regardless the rooms looked like they were designed by someone on a bad dream.

The standard view room have gone up $5.00 a night. That is pretty much normal yearly increase. Disney's site shows 2005 value season as $244 (before tax) and Mousesaves shows 2006 value season as $249 (before tax). My thought is that they will make up the cost of renevatoins by offering less discounted rooms.

Take Care

This statement leads me to believe that you weren't in a newly refurbed room. Check out the link above and look at the 6 pictures under "Model of Contemporary Resort's New Guest Rooms." Then check the photos labeled Tower Room. Which did it look like?

lol - the "rooms looked like they were designed by someone on a bad dream" is a sure sign that it was the old rooms :rotfl2:

Just to clarify Disney0010, the above photo is what your room appeared to be? The photo above is the design of the "new" room. Contemporary/Modern design is an acquired taste, and not all will like it. It's a bit more edgy than most prefer in their own homes, but those who do appreciate modern contemporary interior design will feel right at home in these rooms.

I must say that I absolutely love it. It's exactly what the Contemporary needs... to be Contemporary (as opposed to the current Art/Deco in older rooms). It truly makes the Contemporary seem superior to most any other resort on property, at the very least earning back it's current "Deluxe" title.

The 12th floor rooms are definitely NOT rehabbed. That won't be happening for another few weeks or so.

Can't say I am impressed with the color scheme. I was partial to the wild, bright colors. Oh well... now I have more reason to try out all of the other resorts I haven't tried before repeating.
