New Rollercoaster at Alton Towers

Earlier in the week , it showed a reporter from breakfast tv on the ride. It looked like a normal rollercoaster until it went into a dark area where it stopped...........and then something happened :scared1:

Danauk got it spot on.

I was following the live feed on Towers Nerd today and the reports on there said the ride was really, really good. The special effects that were not seen on the GMTV report were said to be very good and really added to the atmosphere and they compared the level of theaming to a Disney ride. Can't wait until next weekend to ride it myself!!

Oh, I just watched the video and it's not what I expected! :confused3 When it said psychological, I thought it meant more messing with people's mind as in a visual way. The thought terrified me, but after watching the video, it doesn't look any more worse than things I've ridden in Florida.

I mean, I've been 'dropped' on ToT, so the little drops it does there don't seem half as bad...:lmao: Watch me though, next time I go to Alton Towers, I'll be terrified :rotfl2:

i agree - not what i expected either, expected the drops to be much bigger.

but, like pp mentioned - the special effects aren't shown which might make a big difference. Either way, can't wait to ride something new and an excuse for a trip to Alton Towers :goodvibes

Looks good to me but I bet the queues will be horrendous for the first few months

Definitely! I remember going to AT not long after Air opened, we managed to fastpass (or whatever AT's version was then called) it early morning. Wanted to go again, waited in the 3 hour queue only to get really close to the front and it broke down! Other people I was with refused to wait any longer.

Suppose it's always to be accepted with new rides! I'm determined to get down there at some point to ride it!

I went to AT the weekend Oblivion opened (fast pass hadn't been invented then.) We waited 3 hours for the ride (which I timed and it lasted 11 seconds!!) I was not happy, but still waited. Silly really as I have ridden it over 200 times now!!!!

I know what you mean! LOL I even remember a time before Nemesis! Still one of my all-time fave coasters but I must admit it's showing its age these days!

My cousin rode it over the weekend, she and her friend did single rider as the wait was 10 mins, opposed to a couple of hours. To be honest she's said it was good but nothing special! She didn't seem particularly bothered!

very glad to hear there's a single rider queue :yay:

The ride that's being shown on the GMTV clip doesn't look at all like the one that's been shown in today's Daily Star :confused3 The one in the Star has overhead seat restraints and looks like a 'proper' roller-coaster!!

They're showing Sarah Harding and Jennifer Ellison riding over the weekend, they looked like they were having fun! :thumbsup2

EDIT - I do believe the one that's in the Star is Oblivion...goodness know's why they're showing that one, been there years, lol

I'd love to go and try this ride - but I can't help but compare WDW and Universal Studios theme parks to UK Parks. and Sadly, they're nowhere near the high standards of the US.

And the ride has broken down already!! It worked for 5 days and now they have to wait for a new part to fix it! Typical as I wanted to ride it tomorrow. Oh well, hopefully it will be fixed for the Easter holiday and I can go back and ride it then.

ETA: They managed to fix it this afternoon and will be opening again tomorrow. I guess I had better go and que for it as soon as the park opens then!

My 'free' tickets from The Sun have come through, for Easter Sunday - the price we have to pay is the crazy school holiday crowds:scared1: plus trying to entice other people who drive to go with us, as the first train that goes there on ES arrives at Stoke at 11.30! :(

This ride had better be worthwhile, though I reckon it will! :yay:

Please report back guys and let us know what you thought of the ride and whether it was worth the wait! Have fun!
Debx:woohoo:

We went on Thursday the 25th March and Friday the 26th.

Got there at 9.40 and headed straight for it at rope drop with only a 10 minute wait. In fact the whole park was quiet on Thursday with Rita, Air, Nemesis and Oblivion practically walk ons.
I was slightly disappointed with it as i was expecting more what with all the hype, certainly not a ride i would queue for ages for unlike Air and Nemesis. But of course that is just my opinion. My Daughters thought it was good although they too weren't fussed about riding it a second time.

It broke on Thursday afternoon and stayed that way throughout Friday, lots of unhappy customers.:sad2:

I'm in the que for it at the moment, the park seems quite quiet. The line isn't as bad as when Rita 1st opened.

I have to say it really doesn't look that scary!

A pretty tame roller coaster with a tiny vertical drop near the end.

I haven't been to Alton Towers in 5 years, and I don't think that this will entice me to go back any time soon!

I will wait for more reviews!

It was a fun ride but IMHO majorly overhyped. On a scare scale I give it a 3 (2 of those points were for the wraith and camouflaged bush people who were jumping out on people in the line.) I'm glad I have been on it but would not wait more than 10 minutes for it in the future. But as long as it is new and people are waiting to ride it, it makes the other lines shorter!!
